Beachfront Sunrise Sands Retreat, Gibraltar

The beds were comfy also Nice to have a washing machine. Bathroom and kitchen all new,clean and modern. Shower was strong and amazing. Plenty of towels and blankets. Wifi was fast and lots of tv film channels( all English.) Being next to the sea was amazing most of all very relaxing. Listening to the waves watching the dolphins swim and play( daily)was so lovely to see. No need to pay for the Dolphin trip when in town. Can see for free from the apartment balcony. People were friendly felt safe, nice and peaceful. Sun rising whilst sitting on balcony and Dinning on balcony in the evenings was nice. Apartment is lovely and comfy enough to have evenings in when had busy days out or feeling tired. 5 trips and mini bus for 3 hours was good. Bus from retreat to town takes 7 minutes 5 trips were £120 for 2 adults very espensive, but Well worth experencing. Do Not walk up mountain takes 2 hours in 30 degrees heat For the sake of £30 each for mini bus ( its well worth it) Amazing views from top and brill to see the monkeys with their babies. war museum and caves were also a good touch. Lots of GIB history. Town has lovely cheap shops Trends has amazing prices on designer clothing( tax free ) BOSS Tommy Hilfiger Polo and much more all 40-50% off. RS jewellery gives good prices on watches. GIB airport has duty free Cigs,perfume are the cheapest ive ever seen We are so ripped off in the UK. Catalan bay does fantastic meals and beautiful scenery a 10 mins walk from retreat. all flat walking also (Worth a visit). Cafe on the retreat sandy bay beach is very welcoming. (Burgers are the best ) Worth staying.

Taxi services not so good particulary when cruise ships arrive best to get taxi from cassmates town. Prices are alot cheaper than the UK. Taxis are £10- £12 from retreat to morrisons or airport. Travel flight over was annoying had to land at Malaga but had to for safety reasons. Which meant we missed duty free or chance to grab good bits. If can afford earlier flights than do so incase you have to land in Malaga. But flying back to UK was quick no delays. Airport bus and no 6 to town from retreat were quick,cheap and always ontime (every 15 minutes.)£2.50 return per adult. Worth using bus no 6 to both worlds takes 7 mins. Dont get on bus no 6 pavillion) takes 1 hour. Bus no 5X to airport from cassmates takes 9-10 mins.

Easy key collection via text and having stayed before, knew the routine. On the beach with lovely views and sunrises to watch. Calm and peaceful. I once lived in Gib and visit regularly, as a lone traveller it always feels safe. The buses are very easy to access too and run frequently although it's also a nice 40 min stroll into casemates. I had a couple of queries for the host which were very quickly responded to. Lovely welcome parcel on arrival. Thank you

The room is really comfortable and well sized.

There's no overnight parking, buses stop at 930pm, and there's roadworks at one end of the street so taxis won't take you there. If you have a car I'd avoid this spot, and you'll probably need a car as it's far from other things in Gibraltar.
