The Hanham Retreat

A large property right by the side of the nature reserve. Everything was clean, there was tea, coffee, milk and bottles of water for us. A good shower with toiletries. The balcony was an added bonus especially with the egg chair.

The property is in a stunning location by the river, and it's like being in the middle of the countryside although it's less than three miles from the centre of Bristol. There's also plenty of free parking, in front of the property and in a car park across the road. Jo-An was really friendly and welcoming, and the facilities were excellent. There's a great selection of books on the shelves and a really good reading lamp next to the bed, which is unusual and much appreciated!

The only thing that wasn't ideal is that there are no windows in the bedroom, so it was a little stuffy on a hot summer's night, but the absence of windows also meant that it was dark and peaceful.

Great location near the river and woodland. If travelling by car it is situated with easy access to both Bristol and Bath. We visited by foot and walked from the train station which is about a 35 minute walk along the main river. It’s not very near bus routes but is idea if you want to visit Bristol but enjoy a bit of nature and a more peaceful location. The accommodation itself was excellent for 2/3 people. Clean and tidy with everything you need.

Very dark bedroom - no window. Dark lounge. Upstairs bathroom, not practical during the night.
