Decent room, stinky house.

The smell. The house owner has a dog and the hallway effectively stinks.

An expensive room
Close to the UWH. Close to restuarant bar. Limited but free parking.
Key was not in the box. Hall and stairs poorly decorated and un welcoming. Awful room furniture. No tea coffee facilities. Mediocre and disappointing

Friendly host, served its purpose, but easy amendments could make this better
The picture used was the exact room we had. The location was a 20min walk away from the concert venue, and our reason for booking. The owner was pleasant, friendly, helpful. I didn't get the key code ahead of time (he said it should have come from you) only 1 towel had been left in our room, and the WiFi code wasn't given. But when I asked for each of these things to be rectified, he did so immediately, and with an apology. So we were happy that he cared about people's comfort. Mirrored wardrobe doors were useful, as no mirror anywhere else in the room. Plenty of sockets by way of an extension lead, under the bed, and another by the wardrobe (wall sockets unreachable due to furniture position)
We hadn't noticed any mention of a dog prior to booking. His neighbour said that many other customers had been thrown by a barking dog when they went towards the door. You question if you are at the right place. Whether the dog will be loose when you open the door (key code boxes are right by). Whether he is just a noisy boy, or an aggressive dog. Also, my husband has allergies, and despite it being quite a dry time of year, wet dog could be smelt as soon as we entered the property. My husband had to take antihistamines, thankfully we always have with us in case either of us needs an additional top up. This stopped an attack and allowed him to sleep a little.
The advert said private bathroom. That dictates it will be ensuite. Or at least be only used by you, for the duration of your stay. This wasn't the case. The bathroom was in between 2 rooms. Used by both, and possibly others (a room upstairs with no number, possibly the hosts, another numbered room downstairs, no clue if there was another bathroom down there). Had I realised this when booking, I may have chosen elsewhere. I didnt raise with the host, as he couldnt install another bathroom instantly. But the advert needs to be changed. It is misleading. The kitchen was pictured in the advert, but we didn't feel we were supposed to be using it. So, with no TV in the rooms (thin walls), no tea and coffee making facilities either, that left us to order in, or head to the local high street - just a short few mins walk away.
There is also building work happening, so the garden view wasn't very pretty, unfortunately. Though not our main reason for booking.
Being summer, and beautiful weather, it is very bright outside, early on. The curtains were thin. I suggest changing for blackout ones.

De gastvrijheid en vriendelijkheid van de host, het heerlijke bed en de locatie dichtbij het concert op Blackweir fields waar ik heen ging. En ook dichtbij het centrum, goed te bereiken met de bus op korte afstand.
Niks. Heb een mooie tijd gehad in Cardiff. Wel een tip: als je met het OV reist en je komt vanaf het vliegveld even goed uitzoeken hoe je het beste kan/wil reizen.
