About this apartment rental

Summary:

The recently renovated four-bedroom, two-bathroom Castle Forge, which accommodates up to 7 guests, plus infant in travel cot, is located near Corfe Castle, within the charming village of Kingston, Dorset — which dates back to early medieval times (AD 948).

Castle Forge is an authentic blacksmith’s building, originating from the worker’s dwellings of the nearby Encombe Estate, and retaining many original features within its historic walls.

The Space:

Its location, in the heart of the Isle of Purbeck peninsula, affords guests unrivalled views, famous walks, incredible cycle routes, legendary historical landmarks, exceptional nearby coastlines, and just bags of Dorset charm!

The property boasts high-vaulted ceilings with structural roof beams, Purbeck flagstone flooring, exposed stone walls, exceptional natural light, a stone courtyard, and private parking bay for 2 cars.

You’re welcomed into this beautiful holiday home through the rear of the building and courtyard, into a relaxing lounge. There’s a substantial L-shaped leather sofa and armchair, surrounding a coffee table, wood burner and smart tv — creating a cosy environment for kicking back.

This space flows into an expansive kitchen dining area with high ceiling. The kitchen is well-stocked with integrated and standalone appliances, including a fridge freezer unit, dishwasher, microwave, cooker with electric induction hob; plus all the cookware, dinnerware, cutlery and utensils you’d expect for a family getaway

There’s an oak dining table set for memorable family gatherings in the middle of the room.

Off this space is the first of the bedrooms, a lovely bright twin room, with two single beds, with a chest of drawers for storage, a skylight, and window.

Through the dining area towards the front side of the property leads to a bright, newly installed, full family bathroom — complete with bathtub, shower cubicle, toilet and basin.

The next room is a double bedroom with ensuite, with a metal framed double bed, side tables, and a large wardrobe. The ensuite shower room has a shower cubicle, toilet, basin, storage unit, and heated towel rail.

Through the next door, the last bedroom area could be classed as a family room, and contains both a large king bedroom, and an adjoining smaller single room with its own door. The larger of the spaces is another gorgeous bedroom with kingsize bed, side cabinets, a wardrobe, and original features including exposed beams and vaulted ceilings.

The smaller room is a cosy nook down a couple of steps, with lovely stone walls, a single side table, and comfy single bed, this space would be ideal as a nursery or for the younger members of the family as is tucked away from the main house creating a quiet cosy space for a restful night’s sleep.

Outside, the courtyard, back through the lounge, is a great place to enjoy al fresco dining or a drink, and has a private enclosed feel surrounded by stone. There’s a bench table with additional wood chairs, plenty of seating for everyone.

There’s a Hive smart heating system to control the central heating, plus log burner for the colder nights. There’s also a hairdryer, travel cot, highchair, iron & board, a small radio speaker, and Wi-Fi throughout.

Parking instructions will be provided upon bookings, and there is one private bay to utilise during your stay with enough space for 2 vehicles.

Please note: please be mindful, there are steps between rooms in this property which some may find challenging, or those with children should be aware of.

Guest Access:

The entire property, outdoor courtyard, and private parking bay for two vehicles.

The Neighborhood:

A short stroll from the property is The Scott Arms pub, a highly rated and popular destination that offers great food and local ales.

The village of Corfe Castle is a short drive (or cycle) away, with its legendary medieval hilltop castle attracting visitors all year round. A heritage railway station in the village is well worth booking for an amazing steam railway experience with outstanding views. It connects the village to other popular destinations such as Swanage with its iconic golden sand beach within a picturesque bay and Victorian promenade.

The Jurassic Coast is nearby, with beaches like Kimmeridge being a popular spot for fossil hunters, surfers and hikers. The horseshoe Lulworth cove, with its crystal-clear blue waters, is well worth a visit; whilst the limestone Durdle Door and Man O’War beaches further down have breathtaking cliff top views.
