Grotty, over priced and grim.
Initial meeting with collecting keys from local shop was not good. Girl was not welcoming at all. Local pub next door very noisy and lots of drunk people outside upon arrival. Shower trays dirty with mould, half used toiletries in bathroom and bedding cheap and uncomfortable. Mismatched furniture, no side tables or lamps, threadbare carpet on the stairs and one key for 3 doors is a fire risk! Crockery and cutlery strange (plastic plates and wooden cutlery). No wine glasses and host personal mail lying around. Heating turned up full on day of arrival made for very uncomfortable first couple of days in 25 degrees. Garden is depressing and rubbish also lying outside. Had this not been a work trip we would not have stayed!

We liked the layout of the property. When speaking with the host over text and phone call, they seemed genuinely nice and helpful. The bathroom was nice. A 24HR shop just down the street.
We booked Ann Cottage Retreat for 8 people, but the property only had 3 double beds and no extra bedding — no sheets, pillows, or duvets provided. The house itself was acceptable structurally, but it was dirty: dead bugs on the window sills and food debris on the pull-out sofa, which we assumed was meant for extra guests. The beds had teddy-bear fleece sheets, which felt unhygienic and uncomfortable in the summer heat. We contacted the host immediately and were told they’d never had issues before. We requested a full refund, having only been in the property for 20 minutes and having used nothing. Initially, the host agreed, but he later refused through the booking company later. It took three days of calls and emails to finally resolve the issue. Parking is listed as available, but it’s just on-street parking with no guaranteed space — not ideal for a group. For over £500, this was a very poor experience. Don't do what we did and skip the reviews!!
