Apartament przy plaży Brzeźno

The flat inside was clean and very newly furbished and spacious. The new beds and sofabeds were comfortable Ikea stuff. Getting the keys was hassle-free from a key box. All communication up until we got to the flat was good. Brzezno beach is just down the street, so if that is the sole purpose of the stay, then the location is good.

The flat was on the top floor of a quite run down and rough apartment building with no elevator, which we didn't know, and didn't think to ask beforehand. One person in our family was on crutches with a broken foot, so getting to the flat was a pain. There was a slight smell of damp from the shower and bathroom. Location of the flat in a depressing and barren soviet-style housing complex was the biggest let down by far. There was noise from the street at all hours to two of the bedrooms. Inside there was zero communication about the flat, the building rules etc, so we did not know if there would have been somewhere we could have taken the trash to for example, or if there were any rules about recycling etc. There was a balcony, but no furniture, not that we would have wanted to sit there anyway due to the austere view. All in all we did not feel the apartment was good value for money, as we could have gotten rooms in a nice hotel in old Gdansk for cheaper, and then travelled to the beach if and when needed. All the other complaints we had are not the fault of the flat itself, and in hindsight we should have taken better care to check the neighborhood through googlemaps or similar, and checked the tram routes beforehand as well. The tram stop outside the building only goes to town, and getting back from town requires a lot of walking or changing. So if you are like us trying to fit in some beach hours to a holiday that also includes sightseeing etc, this is not ideal. Especially as the rules about swimming in Poland seem to be very draconian, and swimming on Brzezno beach was strictly prohibited on all of the nice warm and sunny days we were there, due to small waves. But again, this is not the fault of the flat, just our diappointment in the holiday all in all.
