An extraordinary place to stay. The wildlife alone made it unforgettable: Bruny Island birds are incredible, a few wallabies nearby, and a seal that visited a couple of times each day. Sitting at the tunnel entrance before sunrise this morning with my camera, I heard the unmistakable sound of whales surfacing below in the dark and watched two large humpbacks moving slowly along the coast. Later that day it was confirmed at Bruny Island Cruises that the humpbacks are currently on the move again. I also loved the small sensory details of the place: hearing the oysters on the rocks opening and closing once the sun reached them, soaking in the outdoor tub with the view, then wrapping up in the thick Danish dressing gowns afterwards. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the fireplace both beautiful and efficient, and the sunken lounge was a wonderful space to sit and slow down. The architecture is exceptional. The way the light refracted through the glass ceiling features was stunning, and every part of the tunnel felt carefully considered, from the coffee maker to the beautifully designed bathroom. Exquisitely designed accommodation in a remarkable landscape.

One of the most surprising and positive experience in our lives. The house is very well equiped, the view is stunning, the nature surrounding the house is incredible - never had this feeling before. You can disconnect 100%. I would absolutely (mandatorily :) ) recommend to take the chef Simon and his wife Nicole at least for 1 dinner. They were both recommended by VIPP Tunnel and you will enjoy tasting incredible food with great service. We saw 2 wallabies morning and evening coming around the house, seals swimming 150m… just wahoo.
Nothing we did not like but that is what you need to be looking for. There is no real service (except if you take chef Simon), you need to buy your food and wine, that s not an hotel as such - that s a fantastic house you rent. The design is top notch, true the need to pass by an outside area to join the room from the living room and vice versa is not very comfy in winter / automn. Again I would really recommend 1000% and we will come back. A good combo we did is to have VIPP Tunnel 2/3 nights and then move to Saffire Freycinet for 2/3 nights. You get the best out of all worlds

Staying at Vipp Tunnel is a very special experience. It is a quiet and boutique property where every detail is artfully curated. Come here if you’re looking to unwind and make the most of being 100% at the property. Access is easily communicated and there is clear guidance on property usage and surrounding sites if you do plan on driving around Bruny. We wish we stayed longer to indulge in how special Tunnel is.

this is an architectural gem - gorgeous location and incredibly well equipped with very tasteful furniture and linens. the site is private and offers lovely views back to Tassie.
the design is a triumph of form over function - to move between the bedroom/bathroom and kitchen/living one has to open a heavy steel door , walk across an open courtyard and then access another stall door. i am sure it would be fine in summer, but on a finally winter day , its very cold and there is no cover (not even an umbrella!)
