The Great Water

Location was Excellent and VImukthi and his family were super welcoming. Location is perfect, you can walk to the surf spot !

Everything was super great! When booking the deluxe bedroom (with attached bathroom), I hadn't realized I'd have such a large shared space with a well equipped kitchen and large fridge. I also really enjoyed the large room. They cleaned every 3 days which was also very good. The balcony was good, too, for working. The hosts are very attentive and catered to my extra requests: fan for the balcony, tea towels for the kitchen. I was also happy with how quiet the room and property was--and still within walking distance of the main shopping road in Ahangama and--most importantly--a few hops from Marshmallow surf spot. The property is huge and private. Even the neighbors or the temple nearby never disrupted my sleep. I enjoyed the quietude and the nature (both flora as well as fauna) that could be observed from the windows and balcony. Solid building, nice Sri Lankan furniture, I'd go back! Lovely "grandma" and "grandpa" too. <3

В моей комнате не оказалось санузла, как было заявлено в объявлении. Ванна для моей комнаты располагалась отдельно, в нее надо было идти через холл и кухню. Если вы приехали семьей и занимаете весь этаж, то это наверно нормально, но когда на этаже живут еще люди - то нет. Я считаю, что надо об этом предупреждать заранее. Кроме того, в ванной не было горячей воды, это тоже не было заявлено. Владелец был очень дружелюбен, хотел сгладить ситуацию, и мы договорились, что я съезжаю. Но такой ситуации бы не произошло, если бы эти условия были указаны в объявлении.

My husband and I stayed for a week at the great water and everything was very good. The hosts were very nice and super attentive to our needs. We asked him for an extra fan for the terrace and he went far and beyond to get us one, he also called a taxi for us when we needed to leave and gathered some information about renting a bike. The place is very very clean - we had a big room with AC and a bathroom and then there was a shared kitchen, living room and terrace, but for most of the time we were alone. We were using the beautiful terrace a lot, to work on our computers and to eat. And it was nice to have the option of the kitchen for when we didn’t feel like searching for a restaurant. The location is very convenient, since it’s close to everything but still quiet and peaceful. We also saw some monkeys while hanging out in the terrace and it was so nice for us. Thank you so much for everything 🩵 If we are back at Ahangama we will definitely come back to the great water 😊🥰

This is something I would recommend every Homestay in Sri Lanka, from my experience, it would be amazing if rooms would have a table, and some shelves where to put your clothes. But this is just suggestion - not something I didn’t like.
