La Pausa " LA PAUSITA"

The villa was exactly as described. The decor is exceptional in every respect. It's like a house out of a high end magazine. Lots of room too, including a large 2nd toilet area as well as the main shower room, bathroom. Also a huge changing room area to hang all of our clothes etc. The grounds are huge and beautifully landscaped with Cactuses and Aloes etc. The swimming pool isn't directly outside the villa, it's a short walk, maybe 10-15mts to the side, which is a shame, but not a huge inconvenience. There are gardeners who come round each weekday morning to tend to the garden - approx 8am to 11am I think. But they were never intrusive and generally we felt we had total privacy. There is also a cleaner that came on Tuesday and Thursday, which was nice. Overall, La Pausa is stunning and we would happily return one day. The location is great to drive to all parts of the island. Lots of beautiful things to see, don't miss out on all of the stuff by Cesar Manrique, truly awe inspiring houses, installations etc. Most of the restaurants were a 20-30 mins drive, but that wasn't an issue for us. We especially loved Salmarina and Dunas Da Farma. We did have an issue with the main electric gate one day. However a quick message to Estella the owner and within 5 mins she'd contacted the gardeners to come and let us in. It was fixed shortly after that. Owner was very responsive and helpful every time we contacted her, including supplying a great list of nearby restaurants and places to visit etc.

Tiny things that could be improved - and these really are small things, that didn't ruin our holiday, but would have simply made it even better. There was no salt and pepper mills in the house? A shame, as nobody wants to have to buy such a thing just for a weeks holiday. Could easily be added by the owner. Also a good cooks knife, large knife, just to cut up things like some cheese. The only large knife was the bread knife, which isn't ideal for such tasks. Again, not an essential, but something that could easily be added to make guests lives even better. Similarly some olive oil and maybe some balsamic vinegar would be an addition that you find in most properties like this, so you can make a simple salad dressing. There is another villa onsite. A family member lives there apparently. It backs onto the swimming pool, which is a little odd. However, it is screened from the pool and they don't have any use of the pool while you stay there. So in reality it was never an issue for us. We only ever saw them maybe twice when we were on the driveway leaving the villa for a day out. In a perfect world, I wish the pool was outside the side doors of the villa, so they felt more connected. But it's a small thing overall. Final thing is the loungers. There are two on the patio and two by the pool. They are nice. However, they are extremely heavy to move and they have no wheels. Plus there are two covers on the one's by the house, but the straps have broken, so they won't stay up. A simple fix to sew them back up. Even with those comments, we'd still stay there again - it was BEAUTIFUL and very relaxing.

A veces olía un poco uno de los baños como a cañería. No siempre. Pero tiene dos, asique se usa el otro y sin problema :)

Amazing villa with a wonderful cactus garden. Beautifully decorated with a well equipped kitchen. We did not visit a single restaurant on the island as we loved our villa so much we couldn’t bear to be away from it for too long!
