I stayed here with a friend on our first night riding the shimanami kaido and highly recommend it if you are looking to stay in a traditional style Japanese home in a great location with helpful hosts. This is a house shared with the owners (but with good separation) that has tatami floors, futons, and a typical Japanese bathroom. It is located in the middle of Setoda, so all the best places to eat and visit are within walking distance. We really enjoyed our experience staying here in Setoda and are thankful for the hosts kindness.

We had a comfortable stay in the bedroom at Genki's house. The bedroom was big and the futons were comfortable. Our hosts, Genki & his wife who live in the house, were pleasant and offered us tea at check in, and also coffee in the morning before we checked out. Genki also had lots of local recommendations and tips for where to eat in Ikuchijima, and even rang a ferry place for us to check about running times.

The vibe of staying in someone else's house felt a little bit awkward as it does seem that Genki is renting out a room in his house to make an income rather than because of a passion for hospitality. It's really more of a bedroom to sleep in for the night, we wouldn't have felt comfortable to cook a meal or use the kitchen as it felt very much like being in someone else's space.
