Contemporary 2-Bedroom Apartment in Wanstead, London

A beautiful apartment, airy and in a very interesting building with fantastic and unusual architectural features. Comfortable furniture and tastefully decorated.

Nothing to report in terms of not liking. But possible additions to the apartment that may improve the experience for visitors. As part of the initial welcome milk in the fridge so tea and coffee can be made on arrival, often after a long journey. The kitchen would benefit from a tea towel and oven gloves, it was hard to use the oven safely without them. No first aid kit found. No plug near enough to the bedroom side lamp, which meant it was redundant and just an ornament.

Comfy, hosts were amazing, clean and spacious

The building is quite unique, feels like a gothic convent and the property has an interesting split-level design with high ceilings and tall windows. The place was spacious, bright and airy and very pleasant when the sun was streaming in through the windows in the morning. The beds were very comfortable and most amenities taken care of, including fast fibre internet that worked well. The kitchen was well appointed and had most things you might need, even some baked beans if you didn't get a chance to get something on the first night. The entire place is heated by electric storage heaters which tend to do the job and can even overdo it if you're not careful, despite the size of the place and the large single-glazed windows. There are 2 bathrooms, both with toilets, that, although small, were clean and provided decent pressure showers and basic toiletries were available. Even though the upstairs is all carpeted, these carpets were soft and clean.

This could be a great place if well designed and furnished, cleaned and taken care of. As it is, there is lots of mismatched furniture, and many unnecessary wardrobes, some things worn or broken. The tap in the kitchen is wonky, the TV is hanging off the wall at an uncomfortable angle directly over a heater and we didn't dare touch it in case it fell down. One of the wall lights in the master bedroom did not work and one of the night stands was missing (there was only one). The kitchen could really do with an Nespresso coffee machine or similar to make the place feel a bit more premium. The walls are paper thin and you can hear people running around all the time though that is not to say that we were not able to sleep and rest here. The dining table in the living room is too small to work from for 2 people and seems kind of odd for such a large space. The coffee table is much bigger but way too low. The location is a 10 minute walk from the nearest tube station and similar from the high street, it can take a little while to get around unless you have a car. We only got one set of keys to the property and hosts seemed overly concerned about parties being thrown there. All the while we found other people's clothes (a hoodie) in one of the wardrobes and even a random dusty used sock on one of the shelves of the living room furniture so it seems thoroughness of cleaning varies, since the bathrooms were spotless. Overall, this property has potential but needs some care and attention. At this price point it was not great value for money considering all of the above.
