Bay Dream Believer

The property was in a good location with lovely views over the harbour and Brixham. The house is well kitted out for those who wish to self-cater and the kitchenette on the lower floor, in addition to main kitchen on one of the upper floors, was useful to have for more basic things like hot drinks and storing food items. The main living area was lovely and very comfortable. The main shops, bars and restaurants were only a five minute walk away, albeit down quite a lot of steps or steeper roads which you have to do in reverse on the way back! This is, however, a feature of the harbour location and didn't impact on us negatively at all, but those who are less fit should ensure they choose wisely and according to their personal needs. The owner was very responsive to some questions we had regarding the property and very friendly and helpful.

In terms of minor improvements we would recommend: Provide a decent hairdryer and, given the size of the property, possibly two - one on each floor where there are bedrooms. We could only find one which was woefully small (a travel hairdryer) with a very short cord and it was impossible to stand up to dry your hair or reach a mirror without moving a free standing mirror around. We hunted around in every bedroom and drawers and couldn't find anything else. Whilst the overall standard of the property was quite high, some items within it were a bit worn and not in the best condition - eg the ironing board looked like it had been around a while and was battered and wasn't particularly easy to put up as the struts for adjusting the height were bent. Given the lovely setting and views it would really make the outside area more appealing if the seating was a little more comfortable and relaxing. Something that is more 'reclining' would have been perfect. We tended to sit more on the indoor settees with the bi-fold doors open, which was a shame as we would have like to sit outdoors a bit more. Perhaps make the information on the parking space not being onsite a little more clear on the main booking page rather than this information being clarified when you get your welcome pack shortly before your holiday. Also, add a little extra info really stressing that the turning to the quayside space (next to the ice cream shop) might not, initially, look like you are able to drive down there because there are bar tables along one side and lots of pedestrians strolling through - it just looks like a pedestrianised street and not a road. Once you have done it for the first time it is really obvious, but when you first do it it just doesn't seem right! A full length mirror somewhere in the property would be a bonus. All of the above are just constructive suggestions based on our stay and certainly didn't impact on our enjoyment, at all.

The steps to get back up to the house, although forced exercise was fine, it is a hillside place so most houses are uphill to be fair. Not really good if you have mobility issues, fortunately for us we were fine
