Grote, schone kamer met fijn balkon en airco.

De badkamer was buiten, waardoor er veel insecten zaten. Ook zitten er veel apen buiten op het balkon en soms in de buitenbadkamer, dit was niet altijd even prettig.

Great, large, clean room with shaded veranda in a lovely location. A very short walk from the beach but away from the noise of the main area of Hiriketiya. Close to Raa for the best meal of your holiday!

Very limited breakfast offering. I would also agree with other reviews that commented on slightly impersonal staff. Mainly because all our other hosts in Sri Lanka were so warm and welcoming and readily available so this service compared less well. Not about the hotel itself, but I was horrified by how much litter there is on Hiriketiya beach. Sri Lanka has a waste problem in general but I was incredulous that locals and tourists alike leave this beautiful beach in such a state

The location is great, close to the beach, surf, good restaurants and beach clubs. The house is very pretty from the outside. Breakfast is included and I really liked the chocolate pancakes, they give big portions and you have a view of the beach from their restaurant. The upstairs room is bright and spacious with large windows and a sitting area outside the room. The downstairs apartment has a refrigerator and a washing machine, which is useful. I think this place is good if you are a young couple or travelling with older children and want an affordable and central accommodation.

I think the place could have been better taken care of. There are mosquitos in the evening but no mosquito net over the beds. Our room had a big tv but you can't watch any channels. There is wifi but forget about it working, the signal is one bar and you can't load a single website (other guests reported the same issue). We had a big kitchen but you can't use it, there was no kettle or coffee machine, no way to cook anything. You have a kettle in the upstairs rooms but no cups to make any drinks. There were however a lot of private items in the kitchen cupboards and it wasn't very clean in there, I guess the place is used as a private accommodation when it's not rented out. The water pressure is a bit low and there was no hot water. Our rooms didn't have bedside tables to put your water bottle and phone in the night. There's no bin in the bathrooms (a problem for ladies or when you need to change diapers for babies), also they didn't clean the room or emptied the trash during our stay, maybe it is something we should have asked them to do but most hotels do this at least every other day automatically. I also didn't like the hard mattress and 100% polyester bedsheets that make your hair static, maybe that's just being picky but that's my opinion anyway. I hope the management would take this into consideration because with some small changes this could be a great place to stay!

The room was clean, big and as pictured. Air conditioning and fan were working well. Beds were comfortable. It was only a 5-10 minute walk to the beach.

The staff were not very warm or welcoming upon arrival and during our stay. We also found communication prior to arrival and during our stay very difficult with the staff/owner. There was no response on booking.com and we weren’t told where to find the owner/manager if we needed something. This resulted in us having to walk round the premises to find him. On our first day, the water stopped working during one of us showering. We were informed by a staff member the plumbing had stopped working and the manager had gone to get a plumber who would be coming in 15 minutes. In the meantime, we were given tap water in bottles to wash ourselves. We waited but after 15 minutes had to leave for dinner. We were not told thereafter the plumbing was working. No apology was given. Because the toilet is ahead of the shower you have to walk through the wet shower floor to get there. We accidentally submitted our unfinished review before checkout (this has now been deleted by booking.com). Upon check out, we were met with verbal abuse and intimidation by the manager. He was at the bottom of the flight of stairs and watched us carry our luggage down without offering to help. When we mentioned this during our conversation, he said this was because of our review - he didn’t want to help us. We tried to explain our reasoning for the rating however he would not listen, he told us he believes in karma and we felt very uncomfortable - especially being two young women.
