Serenity Suites

Great location , very comfortable bed, all very clean.

Nothing not to like , however only 2 dinner plates & 2 tea spoons so these may need topping up. Everything else was great.

The apartments were well presented, not far from the town

Fridge didn't have a freezer box

I was sent the details by email before we arrived

Didn’t like the parking facility at the property, was informed by other guest at other property’s that they were left parking permits for there stay, which would have been very helpful to us

Location was good, close to centre

Our apartment was The Abbey Suite on two levels. Ground floor level had kitchen and one bedroom. All OK Attic room accessed by very steep staircase. Typical of many town houses and old cottages in Whitby. We've stayed in a lot. Though nicely decorated and it photographs well, our experience was it lacked several standard safety features you expect when renting out rooms Lighting totally inadequate The enclosed staircase up to attic room was painted in very dark colours giving a moody vibe but not safe to use. No lighting at all here and being enclosed behind heavy fire door from main hallway which closes on you as you try to find the first step you definitely need permanent lighting here. Bath is located on a raised platform, at end of bed, again no lighting at step edge and very sharp tile edges. Hubby tripped and gashed knee on arrival it was so dark! so using the bathroom at night required us to plug in a bedside lamp at head of stair area just so we could see. There was a motion night plug but totally inadequate and too far away from step and bathroom. A simple led strip placed up the stairs (with dual switch) and along edge of raised bath/bed platform would be safe. Also no way of turning heated bathroom mirror off which is linked to the light switch outside door. It got very very hot and no warning info. Surely this should be independent operation from bathroom light? Velux window blinds broken so inevitable 4am daylight wakes you up early! Overall - we ended up sharing bathroom in lower level room as just not safe upstairs. We had not realised that the only shower up there was in fact on the showcase slipper bath and did not feel safe trying to use it given our earlier experience. I did manage to wash my hair using the handset leaning over the bath but not ideal.
