Bamboo Garden Inn

Our stay at the Bamboo Garden Inn was beyond exceptional. We had planned for four nights but extended to two weeks after the very first night and even that wasn’t enough! The rooms were spotless, with fresh linens, comfortable beds, and thoughtful touches like places to hang clothes and store toiletries. We stayed in two different rooms, both equally comfortable and well-equipped. The Wi-Fi was reliable, which made it easy to stay connected. The shared kitchen was a great bonus for preparing meals, though it was hard to resist Nishanti’s delicious cooking at Machan Curry Pot (the family restaurant down the road). The inn is perfectly located between Midigama and Ahangama, close to beaches, restaurants, and transport options, making it an ideal base for exploring the South Coast. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly Mahesh and Nishanti’s hospitality. Their kindness and warmth made us feel completely at home, and they were always ready to help with anything we needed. Whether it was sharing local tips, offering bikes so we could explore, or surprising us with fresh fruit and homemade food, they consistently went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. For the price, the value was outstanding compared to other places we’ve stayed in Sri Lanka. We’re already planning to return to Sri Lanka just so we can stay at the Bamboo Garden Inn again.

The only downside was having to leave, we truly wished we could have stayed much longer.

Mahesh and his family are very nice and accomodating! The guesthouse is well maintained and equipped with a kitchen. The room was spacious and had everything I needed, including a desk, which I used for working, and a big shelf to store all your clothes. The house is located in the middle of Ahangama and Midigama, which makes it easy to go to any of the two and the area is extremely quiet, so you don't have any noise from parties or traffic. I inititally booked for 3 nights, but extended to 10 and plan to come back. I absolutely recommend it!

The only thing that is a little downside of this specific room is that its window is facing corridor, where other guests are passing by. So you have to be mindful with privacy if you like the windows open.

I stayed at a wonderful guesthouse in Ahangama, Sri Lanka, and the room was perfect for my trip. It was very comfortable with a soft bed, and everything was spotless clean every day. The location was super convenient, right near the beach and restaurants, making it easy to walk everywhere. Mahesh and Nishanti, the hosts, were so kind and helpful with big smiles, always ready to assist with anything. The other guests were friendly too, creating a warm family-like vibe. Highly recommend this place to everyone!

Best homestay in Ahangama. Away from the crowds but close to cute little restaurants and my favourite surf spot. The family is super welcoming and makes this place truly special. The room is big, clean, has a new bathroom and the common areas are very nice and invite for hanging out and meeting the fellow guests of Mahesh and Nishanti.
