Villa Ocean Bay Funchal By Empório

The Villa is beautiful, but be aware it's huge and consists of five floors. It was lovely and clean the facilities exceeded our expectations, it even had gym equipments and a football table. The views are amazing, it's set quite high up, it is possible to walk into town but it is very steep, we took taxis most of the time. Mariana is lovely, very helpful and knowledgeable nothing is too much trouble. I would highly recommend this property.

Although cake and wine was waiting for us, which was lovely, we felt a few essentials would have been appreciated such as milk, coffee and tea.

Mariana was an exceptional host - warm, welcoming, and incredibly responsive, always quick to help with any questions we had. The property itself is just as impressive, offering a unique experience from its rooftop terrace at the top of the villa to a private cave below. Outside, the pool and hot tub make it perfect for relaxing and unwinding after a day in the mountains or canyons! It’s also ideally located, just a short walk or taxi ride from the old town, with plenty of great bars and restaurants nearby. We would absolutely stay here again!

The bedrooms were spacious Provision of a hot tub as well as a pool Trampoline for young children View of the harbour Good location for taxi pick up to get up and down the hill Driveway and plenty of parking out the front for any hired cars

Limited outdoor furniture e.g only 2 chairs on roof terrace and no chairs on balcony of master bedroom Bathrooms and kitchen are a bit smelly with some mouldy grout Kitchen in need of renovation Could have more drinking glasses, and all glasses provided are quite small Pillows are very lumpy No pool heating - water very cold, shame as the pool is lovely Windows are quite old so have lots of drafty gaps through which ants and caterpillars entered There's 1x ensuite, 1x bathroom, 2x toilets, rather than 4 bathrooms. This wasn't a problem though for 5 adults and a child. Space for storing clothes is limited - wardrobe doors don't open well and have a lot of spare bedding kept in them

Large house with lots of space. Lovely pool and hot tub (which is needed in hilly Funchal 🤣) . Nice quiet location with amazing views. We loved watching the cruise ships leave the harbour from the roof top. 15/20 minutes walk down to the bars and restaurants on the front. We found Uber and bolt very reasonable for getting around too.

Loved everything but it's not ideal for someone with mobility issues to walk around the area as the roads are very steep
