Blue Bird Villa - Turks & Caicos

We had a nice stay at the villa and it offered so much more space than we expected ahead of time. Love the wrap around patio, full kitchen (and everything it comes with), living space and spacious rooms.

On our first night in the villa and our last morning there we experienced the power going out. The first time it was resolved within the hour but the last morning it started around 9am and by the time we left for the airport around 11:30 it was still out. This was more frustrating because the without the running AC the house is extremely humid and hot so we were sweating all morning, had no wifi and couldn’t use any of the kitchen appliances to heat up our remaining food. We did hear from the owner a few hours later that he was unaware of a power outage due to the power company and he ended up compensating us a percentage of our money back which was appreciated. Overall my only gripes with the villa is how terribly hot it is inside the main living spaces, since they only have ceiling fans and no AC running, AC units are only in bedrooms, and the last 3 days we started finding black worms on the floor (not sure if this is part of living in island life) and some ants near the kitchen trashcan.

Turks and Caicos is pretty expensive in general, so the affordability of this villa was pretty difficult to outdo. Luther, who essentially manages the property was super helpful, and responsive. The location is tucked away from most of the hustle and bustle, and overall, was a safe and practical place for a stay on the island.

It’s probably partially my own fault for not realizing this when I booked it, but the unit doesn’t have central air. While the bedrooms all had AC, and we slept cool/well in the rooms, the main living area wasn’t able to be utilized as much as I would’ve liked to have, because it was at times unbearably warm. There are a few other small things like the toaster didn’t work, and while it’s not a surprise to me being on a tropical island, there were a good amount of bugs in the house and kitchen, just something to be aware of.

The host was friendly and responsive. The location was great and view from the deck was beautiful and relaxing. I loved the hammock on the deck.

The kitchen utensils and appliances could have been cleaner. The pizza oven was dirty.

We loved how cozy yet spacious the villa felt - it struck the perfect balance between comfort and functionality. The location was excellent, with easy access (within 5-10 minutes) to stunning beaches, restaurants, shopping, and grocery stores, making it easy to explore and settle in quickly. The host was incredibly attentive and went above and beyond to make our stay seamless and enjoyable. This property is a fantastic choice for anyone seeking a budget-friendly stay in Turks and Caicos without compromising on convenience or overall experience.

There was nothing we didn’t like. The location made navigating the island easy, especially with a rental car, and the well-equipped kitchen was helpful when we realized we’d forgotten a few essentials. It truly felt like a comfortable home away from home.
