The room is very spacious, and there was always hot water — a real necessity up in the mountains after a long hike, especially since it gets much colder in Haputale. Having the extra space was a bonus too. The room is basic, but it does the job and for a good price. What truly made our stay worthy of a 9, though, was the host and that you can sit at there other place Amaya. The host and his family are absolute gems — super friendly and always ready to help. When I got a small infection on my foot, he arranged a doctor’s appointment for me the very next day. On top of that, he’s full of great local recommendations and never without a smile on his face. For an additional fee, you can enjoy breakfast at their sister property, Amaya, just a 30 second walk from Daffodil. The breakfast includes toast, jam, butter, and an omelette, fresh fruit, tea, fruit juice, and a Sri Lankan side dish like coconut roti with dhal or hoppers with coconut sambal. They serve dinner as well, and the rice and curry was wonderfully fresh and flavourful. Amaya is also a lovely spot to unwind — the view is stunning and the atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed. We booked three nights but ended up staying 7 nights. Haputale is a small town, don’t expect any western places but that makes it wonderful. You can do amazing hikes, visit waterfalls and enjoy the wonderful views. Thank you for the great experience.

We also shared this with the host, but there was a strange smell coming from the bathroom drain, and the rooms smelled a bit damp. The damp smell is probably inevitable because of the climate. The host said he would take a look at the issue with the bathroom drain, so I believe it will all be sorted. Again thank you for the wonderful experience and your hospitality.

The owner was very friendly and helpful. Good sized room.

It’s very basic accommodation which was fine for the price but when we stayed it was a bit damp/musty. Fine for a night but I wouldn’t stay longer. I would probably try the owners other hotel opposite which looks better and has a restaurant, called Amaya
