"House in the forest outside a suburb of Oslo. Feels like you are in the wilderness, and yet it's only a 15 minutes drive to central Oslo. The warm outside bath is a unique experience. Don't miss it."

Guests travelling to Oslo will find their best option is to park at Rosenholm station and take the train from there. This works on the weekends and before 8am on weekdays (after that it’s full with commuters). You’ll only need a zone 1 ticket. If you’re travelling later on a weekday, you can park at the Mastemyr hotel for 80 NOK , take the bus in from there, and you’ll need the zone 1 + 2S ticket. This is surely relevant for most travellers to the property; and not obvious to the newcomer. It would be an idea to add it to the manual. The property was very pleasant, out in the forest, charming and tastefully decorated. It was big enough for four people. It was well-equipped with everything you needed. The sand pit was great fun for my son to play in, and the hot tub on the terrace was a great experience.
The check-in time of 5 pm is the latest that I have experienced, I cannot understand why it was like that. It made the first day difficult. Other reviewers write that the property is well connected with Oslo. You have a train from Rosenholm station every 30 minutes which is regularly delayed due to poorly equipped handicap facilities, and for five days in the week you will not find a parking space there, so you have to pay extra for another zone plus parking. You can also drive in all the way, but surely the tolls and parking in the city centre make this uneconomic. In my view, this is not being well-connected, but it could perhaps be better than some other locations. This is something that one should take into account when considering value for money. There are still some safety issues which need addressing. They should be relatively straightforward for the owners to fix. The staircase is wobbly and very narrow, the stairgate was easy for my son (three years old) to open. For that reason I sadly cannot say it is appropriate for travellers with young children. Other reviewers have already mentioned the clutter outside, which I can only confirm. There was an electrical cable as well as a lot of stuff which just didn’t need to be there. For that reason it was not safe to let children play outside, which was a shame as there was no risk of cars coming. I would recommend to make a clear division between space to be utilised by the holiday let and space for hobbies and projects. Finally, there was an important safety instruction to “stir the water in the hot tub” before getting in. Perhaps it would be an idea to make this more obvious to guests by placing a sign next to the hot tub, alongside a guide as to what the temperature should actually read. I have to admit that this warning to “stir the water” was in the manual and I also received a message about it a few minutes before getting in.
