Scam - if you rent through Booking

I did not like anything because the host rented the room to someone else and completely ignored our reservation.

The host is scamming both Booking and the customers. I made a reservation through the Booking app the night before our planned stay. I immediately received an email from Booking stating that a response was awaited from the host, then a follow-up email stating that the host confirmed the reservation. I called the host the next day to ask for details regarding the check-in process, and the host informed me that the apartment was not available. I asked for clarifications and was told they did not like to rent out rooms through Booking due to the prices imposed by Booking being lower than through other way. They were taking reservations through Booking if they didn't have other requests, as they would rather get some money than none. It seemed to me they found somebody else after confirming our reservation and simply canceled our reservation to get more money.
