Good to try something different on for our 25 th Wedding Anniversary.

Lovely little set up which is great for those wanting to try an ‘off the grid’ experience. The accommodation was nicely set up with all that you needed. Beautiful fairy lights behind the bed added a special touch, and fans supplied to keep the heat down during the day. Games etc available and we saw blankets and hot water bottles for the cooler months too.

We weren’t aware of the steep gravel driveway until the day before. We had originally planned on coming on our spyder motorbike so would never have been able to get to our accom if we hadn’t changed our minds. Would have been nice to have the window flaps already up for our arrival as it was very hot inside, plus some milk would have been great. ( the chocolates were a lovely touch, as was the welcome board).

Outdoor glamping retreat that allowed for relaxation and fun!

The quiet, the view, glamping is a different experience (camping in style). Being a short distance away from Waipū, Uretiti and the cove was great to get to the beaches and other amenities. The owners checked in on us part way through the break, that was very thoughtful and fab communication all the way through the process. Thankyou.

Absolutely mesmerising!!

We had a amazing stay!! A very pretty accommodation, The bed was sooo comfortable, the view was incredible, the hosts were lovely and gave us games, heaters and extra blankets. And the cows in the next paddock?? What a beautiful morning!!!!

Nothing at all… however we got told there was no spiders by a mate pulling our leg and definitely got spooked by a big one 😂.

Warm, Welcoming, and Wonderfully Unique

We had such an incredible stay at Waipu Thunder Domes! The space was cozy, clean, and super comfortable – it had everything we needed and more. I loved the thoughtful touches like the gowns for walking from the shower to the dome, electric blankets, and the heat pump that kept us warm and toasty. The views were stunning, the kitchen was well equipped, and we enjoyed the games too. The hosts were friendly and attentive without ever being in your space. Highly recommend for a peaceful and unique getaway!

Perfect

Thank you so much for the beautiful accommodations. Our stay was perfect, easy to find and exceeded our expectations. The hosts were super helpful and friendly answering our questions before we took our dog. The dome was perfect and had everything we needed and the toilet and shower were clean. Being able to take our dog was a true bonus (she had a great time) We will definitely go back for a longer stay next time as what you have created is perfect!

Cute but needs polishing!

Was well styled and comfortable. Lots of blankets provided for extra warmth.

I understand it is a work in progress but considering there has been over 200 guests now it could do with a little polishing around the edges. A few small things like making sure all the facilities work, clearer instructions on how to troubleshoot gas bottles/regulators/califonts (as they seem to be challenging regularly amongst guests) and a small thing of milk would go a long way. Even some more lighting as eating dinner in the dark is a challenge. Ensuring all crockery/glasses are cleaned properly in between guests as they were so greasy and oily the bowls slipped out of my hands and broke. Our shower also was not working for the duration of our stay. The grounds were flooded so by the time we unpacked and managed to calm our dog down after being harassed by the neighbours dog we were covered in mud with no working shower. I suspect the hosts knew this prior to our arrival. Had we known about the shower we would’ve cancelled or made other plans. The hosts offered us to use their shower or wait till the next day to use the second domes shower. The hosts did have hand/foot/mouth disease so using their shower was not something we felt comfortable with. They only disclosed this after they had appeared suddenly and started touching all of the showers/taps and cleaning products. This made us wary of touching anything else inside our dome as we did not want to catch it. We had to cut our stay short a night as it was far too wet to be enjoyable. The hosts did refund us $40 for the inconvenience caused.

Disappointing

The idea of this was good just not executed well.

Was expecting the dome to be out in a paddock away from everything. The view out of the dome was to the neighbours paddock and he was working on the fencing on the first morning while we were there so not very private. While it was ‘off grid’ we were expecting this to be also out in the middle of nowhere this wasn’t the reality, we were right next to the driveway with vehicles going up and near a road where you could see and hear traffic. Also expected it to be dark but had a view of street lights and other houses with lights on so not as secluded as I thought it would be. If you want to book this expecting to be away from all civilisation then you will be disappointed like we were.

Cosy and pretty dome accommodation with views.

Loved the extras that came with dome like touch lamps by bed. Nice blankets. Nice cutlery and crockery. Nice hand soap etc

We arrived late in dark and if we didn't have Google maps would have struggled to find accommodation as no number on gate. And a long life or little jug milk would have been nice
