Aurora Nooks Apartments by Heimaleiga

My family rented 3 Aurora Nook apartments for a 8 days in August (1 Family Suite and 2 Superior Studios), which was probably the best decision we made. All 3 were spacious (the Family suite accommodated 2 adults and 3 kids). I was a little nervous at first not being familiar with the code and entry process but all the information was emailed a day or two in advance and there was no problem accessing our apartments. Although we had a private driver and van pick us up each day, the apartments were close to public transportation (bus) to get into Reykjavik or the Perlan (my kids actually walked to the Perlan, a few miles away). Around the corner from the apartments were a supermarket where we shopped a few times, and some good restaurants. We ate 3 nights at the sushi restaurant, which was excellent and had tempura, etc for those who didn't eat sushi. A little further up was YoYo's - a yogurt dessert shop with many topping selections exactly like the ones in the US. Here are a few things that may be useful: 1. The apartment linen service included one bath towel, one hand towel and one face cloth for each occupant in the apartment. You might want to bring more, especially face cloths (washcloths). All of the apartments had a washing machine in the bathroom. Each floor in the building also had a washer AND a dryer so we used that dryer. They were centralized in the hallway and easy to use and to hear when a cycle was completed. The clothing rack in the bathroom is what would be considered in the US a towel warmer, which was really nice to have for towels after a shower. 2. The kitchen had a dishwasher and came with dishes, some flatware, and cooking pans. We ate all of our breakfasts in the apartment before we left for the day. There were detergent pellets for the dishwasher. 3. There are no closets to hang clothes in, but there was plenty of drawer space and a bar above one of the dressers where you could hang clothes. Bring extra hangers.

We had no complaints. Probably having a few extra towels and washclothes would have been Ok but we are used to bringing our own.

the building is new, the size is acceptable, kitchen corner if you wish to cook, everything was clean, there is a supermarket just across the street

had some difficulties finding the right parking, information provided were a bit misleading, but nothing you can't overcome (and parking was free of charge, so nothing to real complaining).

I like the size of the room and the ambience, the location wasn't too bad, the amenities were excellent. it served its purpose.The host was also very responsive.

Maybe a note/ directory on how to get taxis and what's around could be shared, we were left to check google etc, found a pair of socks and a face cap in the room.

The location was great - just outside the main part of the city and just across the street from groceries, pharmacy and some other small shops. The parking situation was easy and the check in/check out process was easy and smooth. The room was spacious and very clean. Also a big plus to have a washing machine!

It was hard to control the temperature in the room and while the washing machine was a lovely thing to have, a drying rack would have been great.
