The Nest - Near Hiriketiya Beach

We loved our stay here at the nest and even ended up extending another 3 nights in the other room, so we have experienced both and can honestly say they were both great. staff were lovely and so accommodating, there are choices for breakfast each morning which is nice and everything was clean and comfortable.

beware of the dogs late in the evening. the walk back from the main area includes walking past a lot of stray dogs, which isn't an issue but we felt we startled a few on the way back due to the roads being so dark that they barked a lot and slightly put us on edge. would definitely be easier to get a tuktuk back, although this is difficult later at night. also some puppies or younger dogs near the homestay, which were lovely but wanted to play bite and without rabies vaccines this is a bit scary 😂

Wij hebben een rondreis gemaakt door Sri Lanka, maar dit was zonder twijfel de beste accommodatie waar we hebben verbleven. De host is ontzettend aardig; wat een lieve familie! Je gunt hun echt het allerbeste. Elke dag kregen we een vers ontbijt en we vonden het zelfs moeilijk om afscheid te nemen. Wij verbleven in de kamer met keuken, wat ontzettend fijn was om af en toe zelf een maaltijd te kunnen koken. Daarnaast ligt de accommodatie vlak bij Hiriketiya. Binnen ongeveer 10 minuten lopen ben je bij het strand en alle leuke restaurants. De accommodatie beschikt over een prachtig privétuintje, waar je in alle rust en privacy kunt zitten. Verder is alles aanwezig wat je nodig hebt voor een comfortabel verblijf. Wij komen hier zeker ooit terug! :)

Het enige nadeel is dat de keuken vrij open is. Wij hadden bijvoorbeeld last van een eekhoorn die, wanneer we weg waren, het afval uit onze prullenbak haalde. Nadat we de prullenbak in een keukenkastje hadden gezet, hadden we daar gelukkig geen last meer van. Daarnaast zaten er een paar vlekken in het witte beddengoed en de handdoeken. Deze waren wel duidelijk schoon en gewassen, maar de vlekken waren waarschijnlijk afkomstig van eerdere gasten, wat er niet goed uit kan worden gewassen. Verder was echt alles helemaal top!

We got fortunate to find this little thing of beauty. Just around 10-15 minutes walk to the beach, 2 minutes if you have a ride of your own. Spacious, elegant room, with kitchen and dining table, plus and big plus of having a cute private garden space to unwind. The hosts are the warmest locals of Hiriketiya, will sort things out for you including a lovely breakfast every morning and just showing with a smile everytime you encounter them. Massively recommended.

Wish to have stayed a little longer, but by the time we decided they were already booked.
