Zuulas Palace

My stay at Zuulas Palace was, overall, a very positive experience that I highly recommend to everyone. I had the great pleasure of staying with Imesh and his family for about three weeks. Their exceptional hospitality deserves special mention; you feel welcome and well taken care of from the very first moment. The family always goes out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. You always get helpful tips about the area, and Imesh is always available to answer questions without being intrusive. Looking back, you could actually describe Imesh as a personal concierge—whether it’s surf lessons, scooters, tips on sights, gemstones, or restaurants… since he grew up in Dickwella, he knows practically everyone and everything and can therefore organize quite a lot. Very often, Imesh would also give me a ride in his car in the morning and drop me off at the beach, or pick me up from the restaurant in the evening if it was raining, for example—that was truly a luxury! The accommodation itself is clean, well-maintained, and lovingly furnished. The rooms are functionally equipped and offer everything you need for a relaxing stay. I (as mentioned in other reviews) often had the entire upper floor to myself when the second room wasn’t occupied. With a large balcony for sitting outside or for exercise/yoga, it was perfect for my extended stay! Inside is a big comfy couch aswell. The peaceful atmosphere is particularly pleasant, a bit off Another plus is the location: Dickwella Beach, just a short walk away, is perfect for swimming, relaxing, and watching the sunset. Hiriketiya, ideal for surfing and shopping, is also about a 30-minute walk away and easily accessible by bus or tuk-tuk. Small restaurants and shops are nearby, allowing you to stay flexible and independent. The breakfast at the accommodation was also very impressive and comparatively cheap. It is freshly prepared and offers a good mix of local specialties and classic options.

Very welcoming family, Imesh gave great recommendations and always went out of his way to make sure we had the best stay possible. Fixed any minor issues we had at any time very quickly and was very attentive. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay and host, highly recommend the property.

We hebben een heel fijn verblijf gehad bij Zuulas Palace. Bij aankomst werden we meteen begroet door Zuula, het lieve hondje van de eigenaar, een schattige bonus. We waren de enige gasten en hadden daardoor de hele verdieping voor onszelf. De locatie is ideaal: Dikwella Beach ligt op loopafstand en er zijn veel restaurantjes in de buurt. Onze tuktuk konden we langs de weg parkeren; dit is een rustige straat dus dat voelde goed. De eigenaar is ontzettend lief en gastvrij. Zijn jonge kindje kwam af en toe nieuwsgierig even boven kijken, wat het verblijf juist extra gezellig maakte. Ook nadat we vertrokken waren en ziek werden op de volgende locatie hield hij nog contact met ons en dacht hij actief mee in oplossingen. Dat vonden we heel bijzonder en zorgzaam. Al met al een heel prettig en warm verblijf, met een eigenaar die echt met je meedenkt en betrokken is. Ik zou hier zeker nog terugkeren!

Imesh war ein sehr aufmerksamer und freundlicher Gastgeber. Er konnte uns viele Tipps für die Umgebung geben und seine Unterkunft war besonders sauber, geräumig und ruhig, da sie in einer Seitenstraße liegt. Es gibt einen Balkon und ein Wohnzimmer, in dem man sich aufhalten kann. Auch Imeshs Familie ist sehr herzlich. Wir können diese Unterkunft nur empfehlen.
