This is a little bit off the beaten path, but it was still perfect for our needs. The owner was great to communicate with after we had a little bit of miscommunication when we first tried to get in the door. I would definitely stay here again.

The stairs… but I am definitely used to staying in properties in Florence with several flights of stairs.

The apartment is well located, a little away from the main busy streets of Florence but not so far away that you can't walk to anything you would want to visit as a tourist. I received very clear instructions on how to access the property from the friendly host, including a video. The main room, main bedroom and en-suite are a decent size and we were able to cook a few meals while staying using the kitchen equipment provided. The roof-top terrace was a nice bonus, though we didn't get to use it much as one of our party wasn't confident climbing the stairs up to it, and there were only two chairs.

A fantastic addition for the English traveller would be a kettle - we boiled a lot of pans of water to keep our tea levels topped up! Anyone planning on utilising the upstairs bedroom and bathroom needs to be aware that it is a tight staircase (difficult with a suitcase), the steps heights are quite high and a lot of it is restricted head height. I did bump my head quite a few times and I was trying to be careful! You also need to climb several flights of stairs to access the property, so do be aware if you are travelling with anyone with limited mobility. A few other quibbles - the bed in the main room creaks a lot when you move at night and if you want to use the dishwasher or washing machine you will need to bring your own consumables.

The location was fantastic in probably the coolest neighborhood in Florence, so that was an A+. Nothing really wrong with the place it was just old and quirky. Really nice view from the little rooftop, plenty of space with a large comfortable family room and stocked kitchen. We were a nice 15-20 minute walk to every major attraction and shopping. The best traditional restaurants in Florence surrounded the place, with some great bars and bakeries within a block as well. Can't say enough about how authentic and cool this neighborhood is.

The directions felt like a spy movie, where I had to call a secret number to get instructions to find the lockbox and apartment but they could open the main door remotely. The stairwell and hallway leading to the apartment is pitch black even during the day so we had to use our iphone lights to find the door. At night it made everyone uneasy walking into a dark hallway night. It looked like there was some lighting set up, but not working. The AC didn't work great and was not turned on when we arrived. The washing machine worked but clothes came out tacky. A winding glass stair well takes you up to the second bedroom and washing machine. Not very convenient and a little tricky. When we arrived I thought I had accidentally broke the key off in the apartment door, and messaged the owner. He sent me back a voice recording of me from inside the hallway saying I broke the key. Very weird. As it turned out, I didn't break the key, I just couldn't see!!
