Ahipara Beach Front, modern stylish bach

Location.

The house (design), location and view were exceptional. You could not ask for a better location for a holiday.

Our stay was great. However I should have looked a little closer at the photos as we were fine in the main house but the other couple in their 50 s found the steps to their accommodation up the back a bit steep. They changed the winter sheets that were on the bed to summer ones as it was very hot up there and no fan or wi fi up there etc. Cleaner had missed wiping out the sink properly and dishes in cupboard weren’t completely clean but as we found out when using dishwasher ourselves the filter was blocked so I cleaned it out and think that was the problem. Lovely home tho. Plenty of facilities to use. Great to have the washing machine and dryer there so I could put the sheets in for the cleaner before we left. Just a couple of hiccups. .

Steep steps to outside 2 nd bedroom

Breakfast did not come with it, which we knew and therefore, we had no expectation. We liked the accessibility to the beautiful beach. The kitchen & laundry facilities were excellent. The downstairs bed was very comfortable. The compensation offered by the host for their error with my arrival date.

Arriving mid evening after 6.5 hours of road travel, to find the premises in a half state of cleanliness and not 100% refreshed from the usage of previous guests. This was very disappointing. The host did express his regret & apologies, admitting it was his error of mis-understanding my arrival date was appreciated. As the host did offer to find an alternative location for the evening with the promise to have cleaners return to finish the cleaning in the morning. However, this was not practical as we were very weary and had 80% unpacked our vehicle. We made do for the night with what areas looked clean. The host also offered a one-night refund AND a paid for meal at a recommend nearby restaurant. Which we did do, the following evening, and the meal was superb., thank you. We have yet to receive one-night refund. One other dislike is the outdoor second bedroom access could be improved for safety reasons. The pathway could be lit as there is a danger of slipping on wet outdoor pathing. Also, whilst the room was cozy, it got very hot during the night. Also, when I returned alone on the 3rd night. The gates had been closed and bolted. Which meant I had to drag the larger and heavier gate ajar a short distance but across gravel that kept mounting further up as I dragged the gate open. This was very challenging for a 60yr old not so strong woman... it also un-nerved me, for I was not sure who and when someone had been on the property. A recommendation to the host would be, to advise your guests, that gardener's may be on the property and let the gardeners know, that you have guests - so they don't shut and lock the gate. OR level the gravel entrance around the gates.
