This all said, we loved being in Ahipara, the location was fabulous. The amenities were excellent.

Breakfast did not come with it, which we knew and therefore, we had no expectation. We liked the accessibility to the beautiful beach. The kitchen & laundry facilities were excellent. The downstairs bed was very comfortable. The compensation offered by the host for their error with my arrival date.

Arriving mid evening after 6.5 hours of road travel, to find the premises in a half state of cleanliness and not 100% refreshed from the usage of previous guests. This was very disappointing. The host did express his regret & apologies, admitting it was his error of mis-understanding my arrival date was appreciated. As the host did offer to find an alternative location for the evening with the promise to have cleaners return to finish the cleaning in the morning. However, this was not practical as we were very weary and had 80% unpacked our vehicle. We made do for the night with what areas looked clean. The host also offered a one-night refund AND a paid for meal at a recommend nearby restaurant. Which we did do, the following evening, and the meal was superb., thank you. We have yet to receive one-night refund. One other dislike is the outdoor second bedroom access could be improved for safety reasons. The pathway could be lit as there is a danger of slipping on wet outdoor pathing. Also, whilst the room was cozy, it got very hot during the night. Also, when I returned alone on the 3rd night. The gates had been closed and bolted. Which meant I had to drag the larger and heavier gate ajar a short distance but across gravel that kept mounting further up as I dragged the gate open. This was very challenging for a 60yr old not so strong woman... it also un-nerved me, for I was not sure who and when someone had been on the property. A recommendation to the host would be, to advise your guests, that gardener's may be on the property and let the gardeners know, that you have guests - so they don't shut and lock the gate. OR level the gravel entrance around the gates.

Thought we had booked a 2 bedroom place but this was not the case. One bedroom was in the main house and the other room was at the back of the property outside up some stairs.

What a gem

Awesome location on the beach, modern, clean, tidy and fully equipped with everything you might need. The bed and furniture is comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked. The owner is friendly, welcoming and responds quickly. So glad we stayed here and would happily stay again. Highly recommended.
