Sangenjaya Modern Stay

- Well-furnished with all the necessities for a fuss-free self-catering travel: washing machine, efficient dryer in the bathroom, sufficient towels, dining utensils, refrigerator, oven, microwave. - Excellent and restful location in a residential area, yet very close and convenient to get to Shibuya, Omotesando area etc. - A good base in the western part of Tokyo with a flavour of quiet local life, away from the hectic and dreary buzz of the city. - Well-located: Near a couple of supermarkets - FamilyMart and Tokyu for a wide range of groceries. The train station was a short 10 mins walk away.

- The heater in the shower is not always reliable. - The bed is a little soft, which might not be so good for those who need more support for the back. - The apartment is generally clean, however there was a spider in the house and under the bed, there are clumps of dust bunnies. The house cleaning could be more thorough. - It would be nice if there could be complimentary tea bags (more than 2) and a coffee machine with free capsules for guests.

The property itself was adorable — a loft layout in a genuinely quiet residential neighborhood. Think locals on bikes, people walking their dogs, zero tourist chaos. Felt completely safe, which as two Black women traveling solo, we absolutely clocked. Walkable to cute bars and restaurants, and close enough to the train station that we never needed a car.

I wish we had more towels and face clothes available for the amount of time we were there

It was a family dense residential area that was very calm and quiet. A few blocks away there is a busy little street with a lot of bars and restaurant and craft coffee shops which was a nice surprise and the walk there was along a beautiful walking path.

There was nothing we didn't like. The quiet location was nice. However, to get anywhere, you need to get to Shibuya station and then go from there so it's two stops instead of one and this train get's very busy in morning rush hour. However, that was not much of a problem. I would stay here again with kids to get out of the hustle and bustle and experience what it's like to live in Tokyo.
