The Chuby Mermaid - Weeki Wachee River Access Waterfront with Paddlecraft

The location was phenomenal. Providing paddle craft was the best part, I kayaked to the clear water springs and swam everyday...I love to swim. We visited at the end of busy season so the area was empty during the week. There were lots of people on the weekend so people watching was fun. We kinda saw a manatee and some dolphins. The huge covered porch overlooking the river was extraordinary, i hung out there daily. There weren't any biting bugs or humidity when we were there.The location was fun to explore and close enough to drive to Tampa for a day trip. I love the area and the water activities.

The kayak access was awful. I had to drag it down to the water thru riverbank roots. Then to get in I had to walk thru ankle deep river sludge to scramble in and out of the kayak. It was really difficult to get in and out of the water. The surrounding properties had ladders and ramps to make water access easy. And although the house was nice, it had a permeating smell of swamp that hit us in the face when we got there. We laundered our clothes before we left but I had to redo everything TWICE when we got home to get the smell out. They had two diffusers going when we got there to cover the smell but they just made perfume scented swamp smell. The washer was on its last leg, running so loud we had to leave the house during the spin cycle. We won't book this particular property again.

We loved it being on the canal as we enjoyed swimming, fishing, and kayaking with the provided kayaks. The beds were comfortable as were the couches, inside and out. Our dog, Wishbone was so happy to be able to share this time here too.

Location was great. We enjoyed the firepit and the kayaks.

There was a cigarette butt on the outdoor coffee table when we arrived, and the interior had a musty/smokey smell the entire stay.

The perfect location on the river, the house is spacious for the size listed!!
