Captivating views, hugely spacious, lovely walk into Stromness

The views really are hypnotic, it's quite hard to tear yourself away. It is a proper walk into Stromness and the hills are steep on the return, but Stromness is a captivating town to explore. The house was all pristine and very spacious. I think I have shower envy - water pressure was a treat! Oh, and some beautiful local produce was there to welcome us.

We'd completely misunderstood how far the walk was into and how uphill coming back from Stromness, and as we were without a vehicle of our own it did add extra planning to our visit. But our hosts instantly provided us with the only taxi driver's number in the town - a great start.

Great location with spectacular views!

What an amazing place! Lovely and very comfortable and well equipped house with three large bedrooms. The views over the water from the upstairs living room were spectacular. Location was great as a base for seeing the island. We hired a car and everywhere was an easy distance. Easy to walk the 25 mins down into Stromness for dinner (and taxi back!). We ended up staying more time here than we expected to make the most of the property! There was a very generous welcome package and the place was spotless. Lots of thoughtful touches and supplies. You don’t need to bring those extra dishwasher or washing machine tablets! Liked all the eco products too. Very friendly and responsive owners. We booked quite late and were lucky it was new on the market but I imagine this will be fully booked in no time. Highly recommend!

Highly recommend Switha

The location is wonderful. The upstairs living room is such a dream. Such outstanding views so that we spent a lot of time in there. The house is very clean and comfortable with great facilities.

We had trouble understanding the heating for a while, and my friend got cold. We didn't realise it was actually off. Sorted it in the end. But then we are older and not so tech savvy.

We had the most wonderful stay in a beautifully presented and really well equipped house with lovely views. The hosts were extremely friendly and unfailingly helpful. We enjoyed visiting many archaeological sites but also loved returning to Switha at the end of the day. Very highly recommended.

Absolutely beautiful house, has everything you could want and more for a few days stay. The views are stunning and hosts were very responsive to messages and giving information that was needed. We were all so comfortable during our stay and it was a peaceful haven̈ during our busy work trip!

Wonderful, great location for the folk festival and exploring.

All great, beautiful views from sitting room on first floor over to Hoy, comfy house. We would consider staying again if visit Orkney. Very helpful host, Lovely welcome box of goodies. Very well stocked kitchen with good utensils, Would benefit from a milk jug.

Need more information on how to sort the recycling and on the heating system These are minor details. Just update in the very helpful book.

An amazing house with an outstanding view. I just wish to be able to come again.

Everything ! The welcome package (the huge bottle of Prosecco, fresh eggs, chocolate lollipops for the children for Easter, bread etc..) was amazing. The house is so comfortable. Everything is new and working. The view is outstanding and this stay was the beat part of our holidays in the Highlands. I just want to go again !

Absolutely fantastic… what an absolute treat to stay somewhere so welcoming well done to the owners

Wow..!! What a spectacular property this is, upon arrival there was cheese, biscuits a bottle of Prosecco and milk in the fridge. The house was spotlessly clean and the views were spectacular. The beds and pillows were super comfortable, and the house had everything required it really felt like home from home. Great value for money too. Beautiful just speechless wow wow wow..!!!!! 🥰

Stunning views

The house is beautiful and has the most amazing views from the upstairs living room. We were a group of 5 and had everything we needed, definitely a home from home. A perfect base to explore Orkney. We all had an amazing time and would highly recommend this property as the hosts are lovely and very responsive.

Excellent Stay in a beautiful property with Stunning views

Exceptionally clean property, decorated to a very high standard throughout! Stunning views from the upstairs living room. A very relaxing break, and a great location with walks right on your doorstep. Lots of nice touches on our arrival made our stay very comfortable. Everything you need, from coffee, dishwasher tablets, cleaning products, and even toothbrushes & hair bobbles etc for emergencies! They've really thought of everything! Great host, great stay! We'll be back!
