I recently stayed at Cairnie Cottage and had a fantastic experience overall. The space was exactly as described - clean, comfortable and thoughtfully set up for guests. From the moment I arrived, it felt welcoming, with quality touches that made a big difference, like fresh linens and clear instructions for everything in the home.
The location was also a major highlight. It was conveniently situated close to local walks and shops making it easy to explore the area without any hassle. Despite being so accessible, the neighborhood itself was quiet and peaceful, which made for a very fun and relaxing stay.
The host was responsive and helpful throughout the entire process. Communication was smooth, and they were quick to answer any questions I had, which made everything feel stress-free.

Fabulous location, beautiful scenery, magnificent walking in the mountains. Plenty of places to eat out in Ballater
The two beds in twin bedroom were old and out of keeping with the rest of the furniture in the property. Mattresses were very soft and uncomfortable.

Location was fantastic! Cottage was lovely and spacious. Immaculate throughout and there was a little basket with cheese, oatcakes, shortbread etc when we arrived which was nice.
Not really anything I could fault. Mattresses too soft for me but that’s just me and not really anything to do with overall comfort as everyone’s different
