Lovely cottage - would stay again.

The cottage was very spacious, the bed was really comfy and it was a nice place. Great to have an enclosed garden as well. Great location. Dog friendly. Fireplace was fantastic.

The boiler had an issue which meant the central heating kept not working and we had to reset the boiler outside (during the rain) quite a few times during our stay. The owners were very responsive in telling us how to do this when we noticed the issue late on a Friday night but the heating was not reliable throughout our stay.

1. Needed clearer instructions for use of stove and washing machine. 2. Twin bedroom was musty and it could use a shade for the skylight. 3. The decor was not as cohesive as other houses we have rented.

We have stayed in Dormie a few times before, location is amazing and the garden size is great for our dogs.

The property is needing renovated, on arrival all the windows had been stripped back and not finished so looked very tired. The chairs in the kitchen, were all marked along with the bathroom that had a sign on it saying they know it looks tired to have an awful smell. We did advise and the cleaner came to put drain cleaner down. We work in construction and the smell seems to be from the drains or perhaps a leak that has not been repaired. It's a shame, as we felt for the price we paid compared to other properties in the village it was cheeky.

Great place, great town, friendly locals.

Breakfast was not provided. Location was great, easy to walk downtown. Lots of natural light, very quiet! Great shower, wonderful towels, loved the towel heater. Outdoor sensor lights, great. Off street parking good.

Comfortor cover without a sheet was rough and uncomfortable. It was warm several nights and the beautiful comfortor was too heavy and there was not a lighter option. 1 guest had a very flat pillow , more like a pad. The write up states toiletries were provided, only thing was toilet paper and liquid hand soap. Small soap and small shampoo would have been nice.

A great place to stay in Ballater

Ballater is a lovely place, and this cottage is in a peaceful location. There is also plenty of parking on the large drive. The cottage makes a great base from which to explore the local area. The cottage is spacious, and we loved that dogs are welcome. We would highly recommend a meal at the Fish Shop, which was recently opened by Queen Camilla and is fantastic.

A couple of things that could be improved are: - the gate is not secure, which makes the garden unsafe for dog guests. It was constantly blowing open in the wind, and it wasn't very relaxing to keep worrying about the dogs getting onto the road (they were supervised at all times, but it was still a worry). - the shower in the main bathroom does not match the standard of the rest of the property. It really needs a revamp and to be kept clean to prevent it from having dirty/mouldy grouting. - the kitchen was missing a few things such as salt and cooking oil, and we would have liked soup bowls and a few other bits and pieces to make cooking meals easier.

Always like our stays here

We have stayed here a few times, it being my husband’s first family home. We love the area, off road parking. Away from the road. Love the open fire.

My daughter slept on the sofa bed this time with the two toppers and a quilt underneath as it is not the most comfortable of sofa beds.

I was able to key in the number for the keybox but found the release key too small and it was difficult getting the key out.

Perfect location, allowed in slightly early as property was ready, just an all round diamond of a cottage for a break in the area, our 2nd stay and will definitely be back.

Moldy smell in second bedroom and livingroom was unbearable. Could not sleep in the bedroom due to smell. Also, no window other than skylight in 2nd bedroom so no 2nd escape in case of fire. Skylight looked like it could open but too high to be of any use. No instructions were provided for anything, Kitchen garbage was 1/2 full when we arrived. Recycling under the sink had liquid in it that looked and smelled like beer. No patio furniture provided though shown on pictures in ad and in written text of ad. Overall, a huge disappointment and probably not a healthy stay due to mold.

Calm and relaxing, good location.

Cottage was very cold at night and the heating never came on despite turning all the radiators up. There was a open fire made up ready for use but husband not keen to have to clean the grate the next morning. No ash bucket or instructions when cleaning up the ash.
