Bait Almuallem By Nomad

It’s a beautifully restored 400 year old building in the heart of the old town. Rooms are authentic and very stylish, with traditional features and attention to detail. The staff are warm and very friendly and keen to explain the history of the building and of Nizwa itself, which is interesting and a nice welcome. The concierge and parking nearby to bring the bags to the hotel is a nice touch. Unfortunately there were a couple of housekeeping issues - the WiFi in our room was really spotty, which made it difficult on a practical level, to check in online and one or two other essential things we needed to look up. We aren’t glued to our phones, but this was a problem for us. The other major issue was the mosque next door, it felt like the call to prayer was coming by microphone from the other side of the wall, which at 5am and 4:30pm is a disturbance and had we known, we wouldn’t have booked the room. There’s also a lot of building work in the lane outside. These are beyond the control of the hotel and can go hand in hand with a stay in this region but I feel that for what we paid for the room, a hotel should be able to deliver a good night’s sleep. Visitors should be warned so they can decide. We recently stayed in a hotel just a couple of minutes away in the old town, without any noise.
