The entry hallway is a bit sketchy but seemed safe. As soon as you enter the apartment you forget about the grungy hallway. The apartment itself felt very secure.

The location is fantastic - right beside the old port. We went when there was a heatwave and the apartment was always cool. A huge bonus! Well appointed, with towels, pots and pans, fridge, toilet paper, soap etc. Overall, it felt like the owner tried really hard to make the stay comfortable and welcoming. The problem was the layout of the flat (see below).

This is not, repeat not, truly a 2-bedroom flat. One bedroom is fine, with four walls and a separate shower room. However, bedroom 2 is not properly separated from the main living/kitchen area. Instead, there is a screen of thick glass tiles, which DOES NOT reach the ceiling. There is a gap of about 2 metres. You're effectively sleeping in the living room, because there is no sound or light barrier between bedroom and main room. This means whoever is assigned bedroom 2 has to wait until everyone else has finished chatting, cooking, watching TV etc. before going to bed. Then there is the noise. Bedroom 2 backs onto a karaoke bar, which seems to operate from Thursday to Sunday. It's not hugely loud, but the thump of the base made it impossible to sleep until it finished, at around 3:30am. Also, the flat is very dark with the only natural light coming from a tiny inner courtyard, that's basically there to give access to the air conditioning units, but has been done up with plastic foliage to disguise the pipes. You have to have the lights on all the time, so it is quite gloomy. A note about keys. Others have mentioned they are hard to use - we discovered there is a knack. You have to have the keys precisely aligned before they work. It's unnerving at first, but you get used to it.
