We stayed in a “hotel” in Porto Portugal and there were some problems. I need you will help me clean up this complaint and write a concise, unemotional, sort of more professional review. The ApartHotel has requested a review and so has the Hotel booking website. So, here is the stream of consciousness accounting of the experience that I need help cleaning up. Beginning We booked a room at the As Vizinhas Apart Hotel in Porto. The first word of caution for people booking a hotel is that this is not a hotel. We did not realize that. A few days before our trip realized this was not a hotel when (because of our late flight arrival), we would not be arriving at the hotel until 10:00 or 10:30 at night.. We emailed them and asked if there would still be someone there that late at night to let us in. They wrote back and said there was no one there; there was no reception. And that we would let ourselves in by punching numbers into a keypad which would open the door. This made me a little nervous and so I wrote back and asked if there was a phone number that I ccould call in case we had trouble with the keypad. They wrote back and said no, you just have to write us by replying to this e-mail. I said I was concerned about that because we would probably not have e-mail access having just arrived in Portugal. So, we got to the hotel around 10:30. It was raining. I had printed out the keypad instructions they sent me—and they didn't work. We tried several times and simply could not get the door to open. There were six or eight other buttons on the keypad, and we began trying random combinations of entering the number and then punching a button. And then we tried punching a button and then entering the number. Finally, after about 15 minutes, we got a combination right, and the door opened. It had been raining this whole time, with no protective cover. Just as we were dragging luggage in through the door, an elderly couple came up behind us out of the rain and said, “please don't close the door, we couldn't figure out how to open the door, and we need to get to our room. Please let us in.” So we showed them the keypad trick and let them in. We got to the room, and there was no password, so we couldn't access the Internet. This was important and seriously annoying. The next day I was clearing off a little table so I could do some work, and there was a small picture frame with a QR code with a title of the top saying ‘ENTERTAINMENT’ for an electronic brochure. Picking up the frame to set it on another table, I saw at the very bottom, in very small, sort of eight point font, was “password.” And there it was. But unless, like me, you had picked up the frame and held it close to your face, you never would have seen that. Without the password, we would not have been able to contact the property management group. So somehow these people need to realize how much they inconvenience their guests and how ignorant they were in sending out a preprinted document with instructions for the keypad, which simply didn't work. Nor was there any information on the document about the Wi-Fi password. These two things would be so easy for them to fix, but staff members from the property management company have probably never even been to As Vizinhas. Serious disconnect. Had we known that this wasn’t a hotel, we would have gladly paid another $20/30 for an actual hotel where there would have been service. Beginning: We stayed at As Vizinhas Apart Hotel during a recent trip to Porto. One important point for future guests is that this is not a traditional hotel, but rather a self-check-in apartment property with no on-site reception or staff. A few days before arrival, we learned that late check-in required entering access codes into an exterior keypad. Because we were arriving late at night after almost two days of travel, we asked whether there would be staff available or a phone number to call if there were problems. We were told there was no s

Beautiful apartment, well set up and location was excellent. Just be mindful if you have heavy luggage, request a lower floor. We had top floor, which gave magnificent views of the city. However without a lift it was 4 flights of stairs and then another once inside the apartment.

location is great, spaces is a little bit small, wifi has big issues simply it works for a few hours a day, entry lock did not have power so we could not get inside, other then that is was ok.
