    My 9 year old daughter and I stayed here on a. Sat night. It was perfect for what we needed which was a bed, a heater and shower somewhere close to transport for a night out. For the price I could ask for nothing more.

    I came to this hostel under unfortunate circumstances, however since living here I thoroughly enjoyed my stay! The whole staff team at the hostel were very nice and welcoming and helped me a lot (even when I forgot to pack things and change rooms the following day 😬!). Willa and Laila were especially welcoming at the desk and left me with a very positive impression! The kitchen was always kept clean with multiple scheduled cleanings throughout the day (although in the evening it was sometimes too crowded but this is to be expected). Nevertheless I would definitely recommend this hostel and have met some great people whilst staying here despite a tough chapter during my time in Australia 🇦🇺!

    The hostel is close to Queen Victoria Market, which is very convenient. However, check‑in was a hassle as no one was at the reception when I arrived and I waited over 15 minutes until a male staff showed up and helped. Luggage storage wasn’t free ($2 before check‑in and $5 after check‑out), which was surprising as I have stayed in many hostels before and I have never encountered one that will charge for luggage storage. They only accept credit card payments with a surcharge, and the staff don’t actually assist with luggage storage — you’re just given a code to access the room yourself. There is no security camera inside the storage room, which feels a bit unsafe. The room I got assigned with had a past notice on the room door saying the guests inside need to clean their room and an inspection would be done. Apparently the situation was not improved as the room was still messy with long‑term guests’ belongings all over the floor when I got in, I cannot even find a space to open my suitcase. I went back to the reception to request a room change but again there was no staff at the reception. Eventually someone came back almost half an hour later and helped with the room change. However, I think both the dorm room and bathroom still need more cleaning as the room was quite dusty. The toilet also always smelled like sewage. There are other choices in the city so I think I will try out another hostel next time when I return to Melbourne.
