Hotel Sunny Shiga is a great hotel in a fantastic location. We came in winter and it’s a very short 1 min walk from the hotel to the Takamagahara chair lift. The hotel is very clean, the staff are lovely and the food is delicious.
We had a Japanese style room for 5 and it was a good size for us. Futons were comfortable and lots of bedding is provided including softer pillows on request. The onsen is wonderful after a days skiing. Lift tickets available at reception for a discounted price for access to Shiga Kogen Ski area. The only issue we encountered is ski hire - the ski hire at the hotel only caters to beginners so we had a bit of an issue finding somewhere to rent but the hotel next door ended up sorting us out. Getting here from Tokyo was pretty straightforward - Shinkansen to Nagano and then bus to Takamagahara which dropped us pretty much at the door! Highly recommend.

Perfect location, great staff, good facilities. The only complaint is the lobby always smells like cigarettes. People smoke too close to the building and it gets inside. My second time staying here. I would come back.
