Zeus 1 bdr apartment in Koukaki

It delivers on what’s written and the photos, and overall was fine. Communication was fast. It’s probably perfectly fine if you don’t need to use the sofa bed/sleep in the living room.

Sofa bed is TERRIBLE. It has a strong crack in the middle and you can’t avoid it. It NEEDS some sort of foam padding because even if I try hard to avoid the crack, it is still hard and sort of lumpy. It was the ground floor which is good, but right by the elevator and despite the sign, people entering at midnight are SO LOUD. There’s no soundproofing. Even the toilet door does nothing to soundproof because I could hear the toilet water drip after flushing. Also was not allowed to store luggage—property manager said he had a bad experience with a past customer claiming their luggage was stolen, so they’re not taking chances anymore. There’s luggage storage nearby for €12/day.

Great location — about 3 minutes to the metro, and cafés, mini markets, and restaurants just a minute away. Everything you need is right around the corner. The apartment was clean overall(except for the mold/smell problem), and the host was quick to respond and easy to communicate with.

The apartment is on the ground floor, directly across from the elevator, so you hear every footstep and conversation as people enter the building — especially noticeable from 10pm until after midnight. The neighbors upstairs also drop/move things loudly around 11pm. The thing that bothered us the most was a stale, closed-up smell when we walked in and that perssisted even tough we tried venting the place. The AC smelled bad when switched on and looked like it had never been cleaned — visible mold on the vents. In the bathroom, there's mold above the shower cubicle, which other guests have also mentioned. When we asked the host about it, we were told there was none — but we have photos showing otherwise. The bedroom window and balcony don't face the street — they open onto a private courtyard shared only by the building's apartments, which backs onto a bakery's storage area. Staff there start banging metal trays and shouting around 5am, and the noise comes through clearly even with the windows closed. If you're a light sleeper, or traveling with a young child who goes to bed early, this probably isn't the right place for you. The apartment also has a balcony with a table and chairs, but it's basically unusable — there's constant water dripping onto it from the AC units on the floors above. There is a sun curtain/awning that could have blocked the drip, but the host told us it couldn't be moved because the gas heating unit's exhaust vents out into that exact spot. Smaller issues: the pillows are very tall and uncomfortable, and there's no microwave, which would have been a nice addition.
