The Terraces by Aayu - 2 mins walk to Chulia Street

Having previously stayed here, I was happy to return after coming back from Kuala Lumpur. I was made to feel very welcome by the staff, especially Hariz, Lava, Joyce, Ram, and Mizah. The rooms were spotless and were cleaned to a high standard by Hassan. The hotel also offers free daily tours around the island, led by Hiba and Tai. The tours are very informative, enjoyable, and a great way to explore the island. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would happily return again.

Right in the centre of town so extremely easy to walk to everywhere The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful with any concerns We felt safe and there were no security concerns, although it could do with CCTV. The sheets, towels and bedding were clean.

The rooms are very small, barely enough room for the bags and it felt a little claustrophobic. There is a clear mould/dampness problem that you can smell when you immediately arrive and in some of the rooms. We had to change rooms as the first bed was broken and slanted so was uncomfortable to lie on. Some of the pillows were really used and lumpy. The walls are extremely thin and you can hear everything. There is a noise curfew, but our neighbours kept us up until 2am just simply talking. It was like they were in the same room. The bathrooms really need proper cleaning and some of the locks don't work. We were disappointed with the arranged social night. There was an event starting at 7pm, but when we came down we were the only ones there. This doesn't seem like a social place unfortunately.
