Hera Ceylon

This is probably the nicest place I have ever stayed. It is just perfect in so many ways. There is something so special about being the only guests and having the whole place to ourselves. The location is wonderful. Nilavelli Beach (which is incredible) is a very short walk down the lane outside the gates. We headed down most afternoons for a swim in the sea. Along the way we usually saw a troop of grey monkeys and on one occasion few cows ambling along! In terms of the hotel itself, it is incredibly well designed with a focus on total relaxation. There are different seating/lounging areas in the stunning gardens. The pool is fabulous and has a jacuzzi and a swim up bar area. There is also a building for massages which I think will be ready soon. At night and in the mornings we ate in the open air dining area which also had a selection of books to borrow. The bedroom is also wonderful. Such a comfortable super king sized bed. We both slept brilliantly every night. The bathroom is also fabulous! There is an outside bath and shower (but inside toilet thankfully) which felt like such a treat. We absolutely loved the food. The breakfasts were massive and kept us going until the evening each day. The best thing about the food though was the Sri Lankan dishes we had in the evenings which were incredible. Paula (probably spelt wrong. Sorry!) the chef is so talented. He made us some incredible vegetable dishes which I will remember for a long time. Nothing was too much trouble for him. I mentioned that I had heard that Sri Lankan hoppers are really good, but he said he could not make them because did not have the right pans. However, the next morning hoppers appeared because he had gone out to buy a pan. All of the staff were just lovely and so helpful. They are happy to do anything to make it a wonderful stay. You just have to ask. I don’t think I will ever stay anywhere as special as this. It was magical!

We had a wonderful stay and felt very well taken care of by the staff throughout our time here. Everyone was incredibly attentive and welcoming. One of the absolute highlights was the dinner prepared for us by one of the staff members. It was honestly the best food we’ve had during our trip through Sri Lanka so far – absolutely delicious and prepared with so much care. He did an amazing job! The breakfast was just as impressive and truly outstanding. The location is also beautiful. We had the whole place to ourselves, which made our stay feel especially peaceful and relaxing. The sea is only a short walk away, making it a perfect place to unwind. Overall, we had an amazing experience and would definitely recommend staying here!

Wir haben drei Nächte hier verbracht und haben es sehr genossen die ganze Anlage für uns zu haben. Der Pool ist toll und das Bett war bequem. Das Outdoor Bad ist etwas besonderes. Der private Koch hat uns leckere Mahlzeiten zubereitet. :)

Leider hatte das Wasser bei unserem Aufenthalt einen unangenehmen Geruch. Auch die Badewanne könnte aus unserer Sicht eine Renovierung bzw. bessere Pflege vertragen. Das Personal war grundsätzlich sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Allerdings waren die Englischkenntnisse teilweise sehr begrenzt, wodurch die Kommunikation etwas erschwert wurde. Wir hätten uns insgesamt etwas mehr Zuvorkommenheit gewünscht. Auf Nachfrage wurden unsere Wünsche jedoch stets erfüllt. Insgesamt wäre mit etwas mehr Aufmerksamkeit für die Ausstattung und den Service sicherlich noch mehr aus dem Aufenthalt herauszuholen.
