The area around the hotel is stunning
The so called hotel is not fit for purpose. It is in serious need of renovation or closing. The whole place is rundown, damp, dirty, and smelly. There were no staff anywhere in the building and nothing was open in the main areas. No bar no kitchen absolutely empty. Not quite sure how this place is still open and being advertised as 4 star it is disgusting that people are being duped into booking a room

Best views ever! So relaxing and peaceful
Breakfast decent for the price
Roman Bath and steam room a lovely bonus
Top Staff! So helpful!

They are slowly turning this hotel back to its former glory
Definitely coming back again soon

Staff great but facilities being upgraded
No bar due to refurbishing

The 2 members of staff we met were really friendly and very helpful.
There’d been a powercut the day before and had no heating or wifi, neither issue got resolved while we were there. We did go to reception and they gave us a plug in heater as it was freezing cold in the room.
The bar area was under refurbishment, so that wasn’t in use. It may have been helpful to let us know this before arriving instead of telling us upon checking in.

Small pool and steam room was quite nice. There is a big car park, play room inside and nice view around the hotel. The hotel isn't new, but it is not pricy, so would come back again.
Breakfast. We paid extra for breakfast (continental), but only had toast bread, tea, coffee and cereals. Hotel is fine, but wouldn't take breakfast again.

Great location in beautiful area everything around calm and quiet would defo recommend
Noticed there was a small bar with beer taps which wasn't open should get that working

The lady who met us in reception was very helpful and welcoming. The view from our room was great
I was extremely disappointed to find the hotel restaurant and bar closed for refurbishment and we were only given 24 hours notice of this making it too late to find an alternative. Not ideal when traveling with a child. We ate take away in our room and drank out if plastic cups. The breakfast was poor, stale croissants and fruit loaf yoghurt on its expiry date. Overall very poor and disappointed for what I had paid. The place has potential to be lovely but honestly shouldn't be allowing guests to book without knowing you are basically getting a bed

Dave the night receptionist was fantastic. Location is great.
It’s mid renovation and currently tatty. One of the rooms we were taken too was appallingly hot even with the windows open- room 207.

Nothing
No food on , no lights in lift , roof of lift fell in on us on entry , room smelt of paint ?? 3 fans on in room when arrived , ?? Milk sour so couldn’t have coffee ,
No hand rail in pool to get out of it or in 🤨
Had to use stairs , my friend waiting for knee operation had great difficulty with this , weather bad but still had to go out to have dinner and tea as no food available ,

Breakfast was cereal, fruit juice, and toast or croissants, and fresh fruit. Location was good if you had a car
In fairness the hotel was being refurbished, very dated, sadly needed a lot doing to it

The Staff were helpful and friendly.
The room was very grubby, the bathroom had Mold around the edges, the panelling was made of wood. This was chipped and broken. There were marks on the walls. The furniture was tired with handles missing. The room was extremely hot. The ceiling fan helped but had ton be switched off during the night as it made a loud clicking sound. The were paper cups for teas and coffee (a first) and bottles of water were provided on my last day of stay. Inadequate electrical points plus no USB plugging points.
I felt like I had been given the trades, servants quarters (no disrespect to people in them trades) just conveying my feelings.

Friendly staff, room clean & comfortable. good parking available.
Hotel looks a bit tired, lift was out of order, only do continental breakfast but even this was not available. Was told the hotel is under renovation but didnt see any renovations going on ? 20 minute walk to town centre.

The staff were so friendly. I liked the decor: a little dated, but everything was clean, that’s what is most important.
The beds could’ve been a little better. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, though.

The swimming pool was nice and our kids enjoyed it. Beautiful views and very friendly staff. Room was clean. Parking was ample and free and it is only walking distance to town.
I was hoping the place would have been renovated, after reading previous reviews. But it didn't look like that is even in the cards - the place is VERY worn down. Public areas didn't feel as clean as the room.

Great location, tranquil. Amazing staff. Adequate breakfast. Hoyel is dated in parts but very clean and for the price its very good.
Roman bath/Spa and steam room a nice bonus
It's not the ritz But I will definitely be going again
Bar not yet open but it's due to reopen end of September.
Full English breakfast and restaurant meant to coming in the winter. So for now besides for breakfast and coffee and tea take your own food or go down the road to town.

Good location for the amenities in the area and lovely views over the river. My children enjoyed the games room and the small pool.
The hotel is being renovated and predominantly takes large youth groups. Being on a main road, it is loud at the front of the hotel and the guests in the adjacent room could be heard talking. There is no bar or restaurant, breakfast was an additional charge and only continental was available. The windows were filthy and covered in cobwebs resulting in may spiders entering the hotel and creating more webs, including in the light fitting in our room. We were kindly offered a better room to the one booked which had a balcony. However, the room had no mirrors, dressing table, soap or. bath plug. The toilet seat looked new, but didn't fit the toilet. Tea, coffee and bottles of water were provided with plastic and paper cups.

It was in a good location, and the staff were very friendly (and honest about the lack of facilities)
Was charged for breakfast as part of the price of the room although the breakfast was a choice of 3 cereals or toast and juices. Was disappointed, we only used the breakfast once due to not being full enough for the busy day.
The room was extremely hot all the time, we were absolutely sweating when we walked in. It was also very dirty, stains everywhere, cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, mold in the bathroom, dirty drawers.

Location
Never been so disappointed in a hotel - having paid £210 for one night! A run down patched up property, barely functioning as a hotel. Skeleton staff and zero facilities, not even a bar. I’d say budget hostel standard which is ridiculously priced. In a stunning location on the outskirts of beautiful Llangollen - what a wasted opportunity.

Not much. No staff. Couldn’t get in the room. Email to advise no facilities open after booking and paying. Another email then cancelling continental breakfast. Sign up about limited hot water and showers
Everything .

The location was great, an easy walk into the centre of Llangollen. Cannot comment on food and drinks because nothing was open as they were having a refurb. We knew about this so did not put us off.

Location was very good.
The property is under revamp probably and mostly unattended. Many things were not working.

Location. Lovely view of the river, and its sound, at night.
Powerful shower. Nice smelling Soap/shower gel. Clean and comfortable.
Quiet hotel, not overcrowded or noisy* (see next)*
Steam room great.
Spa great if Adults only!
Spa was smaller than expected and when we went there were 2 or 3 families which stopped dead when we walked in as if we had invaded their party and therefore uncomfortable from the start. we opted for the steam room first but there was nowhere to put our things, the families had their things on the 6 available chairs. The shower/change rooms had no chairs just a wet floot to put our stuff onto.
There were't many children there but I'm guessing it was them sounding like rhinos charging up and down the corridors around 9pm and from 7.30am.
The Window was murky - spoiling the view, and the wall mirror was blocked by the wardrobe. The main light and the wall light near the dresser didn't work. We were told of breakfast but then it was cancelled with an apology, but with no recompense.

The hotel has very good potential. It is in a lovely location. The roman pool and steam room was a nice touch but could do with some improvement. The receptionist was very welcoming and explained the situation at the moment
My room was pretty bland, beds were very squishy and not very comfortable. Room was overly hot. Toilet is broken, in that it moves when u sit on it. Spa room was short on towels. Room was expensive for what we got.
5.0 / 10.0
As the hotel was in the process of being modernised, facilities were limited but this was made clear at the point of booking so there were no surprises there. The spa was great. I think it has the potential to be a really great hotel.
The bed squeaked every time I moved.

Location was good. New towels were appreciated.
The building is dilapidated, filthy & not fit to be run as a hotel. Bookings.com should not be listing this accommodation. Any positive reviews are false.

Shame no bar or restaurant, but hopefully renovations will be finished soon.
Room quite warm, maybe due the the spa below?

Our room had quite alot of glamour and the view from the windows was terrific. We also, as guests had access to the steam room and other facilities.
A nice relaxing stay and the hotel was close to plenty tourist attractions.
