Stayed at the MacDougal Clansman Hotel for 3 nights this summer on a girls trip for myself and my aunt in her 60's. This is the perfect family-run operation in my opinion. Iain was in communication with us to coordinate for our check-in (we arrived on an incredibly early train into Inverness, unfortunately), and he was very accommodating. Not only did he offer to keep our bags, but a room opened up and he let us switch into the free room without any fuss so we could freshen up earlier than we'd thought we'd be able to. We ended up staying on the 2nd floor corner room (3rd floor for the fellow Americans) and had a great view down the street so we could people watch on our early nights. Some tourists out in the area were louder than others, but it was wholly unrelated to this hotel - I'll absolutely stay here again if I find myself in Inverness again. Very safe and as comfortable as staying with your own family. Its a great location, you can walk anywhere you'll need to get in Inverness and won't have to call a cab. In fact, between the bus station (the ladies in the counter at the bus station were SUPER helpful as well - I highly recommend stopping by in person to coordinate your out-of-town travels) and the hop-on/hop-off bus, we were able to get all around town. We also took a day trip to Skye one of the days staying here and could walk to the pick-up spot easily! I can't emphasize the convenience of this location enough. Thank you Iain and team! We'll be back!

Don't be put off by the musty smell in the foyer when you enter. It is an old building, but full of charm. Our room was impecably clean with a super comfy bed, elec kettle with tea and coffee and a few lovely biscuits! When the pubs in the area close it can be a bit noisy but bring your earplugs and you'll be fine! Unfortunately we had to leave on our tours early each morning so didn't get to experience the full breakfast provided in a lovely dining room. However Ian was very accommodating and provided us with everything we needed for a cold breakfast- fruit, croissants, and energy bars.

This hotel is right on Church Street and right in the middle of all the shops, pubs, etc. The owner was absolutely fantastic and so accommodating. We left very early for Edinburgh and he left out a kettle to make coffee, toaster, bread, cereals and other snacks because we were missing the breakfast that was included in the price.

What a hidden gem! This is a very welcoming, clean, and comfortable place to stay in Inverness. Ian was an excellent host and is very knowledgeable about the area. I highly recommend this hotel! Breakfast was excellent too. The staff went out of their way to ensure a Very pleasant stay.!

This is a family run property with owners who are very helpful and friendly. Breakfasts were delicious. The property is older, located in the historic downtown area of Inverness, very convenient to the railway station, bus lines, tourist facilities and many nearby restaurants, including several with live music. Our room was large and had a very recently renovated bathroom, opening windows and comfortable beds. The only disadvantage was the lack of an elevator.

The MacDougall Clansman is a 5 minute walk from the bus or train station. A great feature if you don't have a car. The rooms were clean and well maintained. Breakfast is what you would expect. Everything from cereals and toast to a full fry-up. Coffee. Tea. Juice. For us it was the owner that made the deal. He greeted us upon arrival and did so with a smile that never waned. He was sincere in wanting us to have a great stay and did not disappoint. Going so far as setting up a breakfast option for us early in the morning before regular hours to accommodate our traveling schedule. Highly Recommended.

It was perfect for me. I wanted a quiet relaxing stay, near city amenities. Also it was central but minutes from the river for a relaxing walk. Maybe if you want more WiFi and business facilities you would be better off booking a chain hotel. However, the owner did say they could help with urgent matters.
