AYKUN Capsule Hotel

Great place for a short stay, good standard in tiny capsule rooms, full kitchen and good laundry system too. Very central in the city, not cheap or expensive. In the basement level of a 'proper hotel'. Only negative... staff using the downstairs kitchen as their usual route to their work areas, when they had another option . Huge TV in the lounge area too. Quite impressed with this idea of a capsule hotel/hostel, with tiny rooms instead of spacious bunks.

The hostel is perfectly located, near Terrenkur Park, a nice park along a brook, lined with many good coffee places and eateries. The small bedrooms / large sleep cabins are well designed and have shelves to organise your belongings. It is a clean place, with a friendly staff.

The hostel has hardly any windows. Not in the sleep cabins, hall ways nor in the kitchen. This means that inside the hostel there is almost no daylight, nor fresh air. Electric light and airco should provide light and air, but are insufficient. Some guests slept with their cabin door open, to have more oxygen. When you wake up, you have no clue what time of day or night it is, due to the lack of natural light. It’s a rather disorienting, locked up, artificial environment. The building is not big, so with some simple changes in the design these problems could be solved.
