It was very unclear on how to get into the house. Half dead plants, that I watered for them. Washing machine and shower was dirty. Couldn’t open pantry door as it got stuck on the floor. Vertical blinds missing. Very hot when we were there, No fans/air con in the bedrooms. Very misleading which house it was. We left after 2 hours and booked elsewhere, as this was bad!!!

Very dissapointed in our stay, would not recommend.

The house was very dirty, and smelt very bad. The duvet cover on one of the beds was not clean, shower and bathroom full of black mould, dirty dishes found in the bedroom beside bed, kitchen had hardly any utensils, no tea towels, no dishwasher powder, section was a mess with rubbish piled up outside smelling and attracting flies.

Disappointed

The pukeko that would visit us each kor ing was really cool. Location was good for everything we wanted to do.

The place smelt REALLY bad like food gone bad and this other off smell. It needed a full clean. The floorboards in the kitchen were soft and felt like you were going to fall through them. The neighbours on the right hand side were very loud to the point their music bass vibrated the home. Also, having to wait an extra 2 hours for the home to be 'ready' as they must not have had an extra key to open the home as the previous people locked the keys inside was not good enough also. When leaving a voicemail and email about the smell etc wasnt answered and instead two (what seemed like automated emails) were sent to me that were irrelevant to my voicemail or email is not OK! Unfortunately, we will not be back ever again.

Dear Vivian, Thank you for hosting us. I hadn’t planned to leave a review, as I didn’t want to be overly critical — especially since previous guests have already raised concerns. However, since you kindly asked for feedback, I’ll share our experience with care and sincerity. It seems many issues noted by earlier occupants remain unresolved. There were several things in the house that didn’t function properly — even the wall clock was stuck, ticking away at the same number like it was having a stroke episode. While quirky, it also reflected a broader sense of neglect. I understand how challenging it is to run a business, especially one involving property maintenance. But investing in your accommodation — even small fixes — signals care and pride, and ultimately brings more value back to you. Letting things slide too long risks bigger problems down the line. Improvements needed

We went there for a rugby game at Eden Park. The bus stop is in walking distance and it’s a quiet neighbourhood. It was convenient.

The place is dated with old carpet in the bedrooms. No kitchen ustensiles, very few plates and glasses. The washing machine didn’t work properly. The bins were already full when we arrived. You have to guess that the key opens the door at the back of the house not the front door.

Disappointed after previous reviews I saw before staying.

Location to city centre was good, park next to house was great. Being given early and late check in was appreciated. The bathrooms were clean, Wifi was good.

Lack of cooking ware, I. E. Microwave bowls. Salt and pepper pots, the items not frequently used like pots, pans and lids were sticky with oil residue and needed to be cleaned before use. The bed linen needs to be updated as well as the pillows, the owner did supply 2 new pillows when asked however with a dirty pillow case on the one. The air vent in the bathroom had old dust hanging from it. Garden is a bed of weeds and not maintained. We were expected to take the wheelie rubbish bin out on rubbish bin day, not something I want to do while on holiday. We definitely left the property, especially the kitchen cleaner than what we found on arrival.

Spacious but basic

Lots of space. Had a bath. Owner friendly and helpful. Air heater effective.

A bit grubby. Kitchen not well supplied with things. Bare minimum of cutlery, glasses etc. No cloths or scissors. No vacuum cleaner, no ironing board or iron. Kitchen cupboards dirty on the outside and some inside. No tumble dryer.

Central to city and shops, comfortable stay with children

The location was very handy for what we needed. More Mount Roskill than Mount Eden. However, house sits next to a lovely big field and playground if travelling with children. Nice and close to the city. Hosts are very quick to respond and lovely to deal with.

A few minor maintenance and repairs were needed. We contacted the hosts who were very receptive and said would attend to these before the next guests. These didn't impact our stay significantly and we could look past them. With these fixed, the house will be good value for money.

Nice and private, very well maintained, tidy and comfortable, also very close to the city centre

The beds were comfortable, however, one of them did not have a support leg in the middle by the headboard, so the bed sunk in quite a bit.

Good accommodation and hosts

The location was quiet and nice and close to plenty of food places. Would recommend a car instead of walking. Just under an hour walk to Eden park. It wasn’t anything fancy but it suited our needs. The seperate toilet was a bonus with 5 people. The hosts were easy to contact and very responsive.

The beds were a bit uneven, dipped in the middle, but not the end of the world for a couple nights.
