Baddeck Inn

Just to be clear - I did not complain to the staff when there simply because there was not rectifying the situation. As soon as I walked in there were dead insects on the floor of the entrance hallway as well as the bathroom. The bathroom was not clean, the toilet seat itself was not clean on the underside of the rim you would raise. It was disgusting. The hotel and area was sold out. I slept a few hours at most with clothes on, with none of myp ersonal effects on the floor for fear of insections. During the night I had to use the bathroom and upon openingthe light saw several large bugs on the bathroom wall. I left the lights on the rest of the night. The room furniture itself was dated...I left early in the morning as soon as possible to simply get out of the room. I wasn't going to leave a review thinking this might have been just an exception, but when thinking back (now 5 days later, I just had to say something for any future travellers. I would avoid this hotel at all costs. I have neer experienced such a thing before when it comes to hotel rooms.

We were very disappointed to find out when we checked in the facilities are still unfinished and the dome did not have tiolets or running water and the insulation were poor to the point cold air was still coming through the door, the heat pump was struggling to keep the room warm. Also the lighting around the dome were not sufficient. The toilets were far from the dome and had difficulty making our way to them especially in the middle of the night when it is raining heavily, also only 3 washroom were accessible and not maintained properly, dirty, unclean the ceiling had exposed fittings, exhausts were not installed. The administrative and morning staff were helpful, but when we requested for additional water, the night staff would not provide additional bottles and we had to bring back the empty bottles and they will refill them with the water jugs they had. We expected to be given water at the very least since there is no provision for water with in the rooms. We had high expectations but unfortunately we're extremely disappointed with the overall experience.

The glamping domes are next to the Trans Canada highway so the noise all night from traffic and big trucks was bad. The dome itself was clean and simple. However, there was only one tiny lamp, one blanket, thin pillows, and the coffee machine was very dirty/moldy. That was not a problem because there was a Tim Hortons right next-door. The heated bathrooms located up the hill were adequate, but most of them were not functional as of yet. There was no Wi-Fi in our dome. A couple of extra lamps, some extra bedding, and some water in the fridge would’ve been really appreciated. The fridge and microwave were clean and nice. The construction just seemed unfinished, or diy style. There were 2 smelly port a potties near the domes, and construction debris still lying around. I wouldn’t choose this place again.
