Pretas Village Flats

The apartment absolutely exceeded my expectations. The photos on booking.com do not give grace to the reality of the property. The apartment felt incredibly high quality, pristine, modern and very well equipped. During my stay I went on daily excursions. The pick up points were always just a 3/4 minute walk away to the nearest big hotel. I was a solo traveller and felt completely safe navigating the island and the central position of the apartment. There are two good bakeries just steps away which open early which were a saviour to me when doing daily early morning adventures.

Your coffee machine. It works completely differently to others . Usually you can add the pod and it will stop itself once the espresso is made. I learnt the hard way you don’t leave your machine and it will keep on draining the water until you flick the switch Also the pods are so hard to find and only in big supermarkets and not local shops. I would suggest leaving instructions for the machine and compatible products or just ditch it as it’s quite a luxury appliance. I’m only saying this as I love my morning coffee, bought the compatible pods and felt I kept messing up., maybe because I bought the biodegradable pods that the machine didn’t pierce? But there were beautiful coffee shops nearby which I loved.

Property was spacious, clean and close to centre of Funchal. The host Luis, was very friendly, helpful and provided lots of helpful information about things to do and sea in Madeira, as well as answering any questions.

Great location, clean and easy to check in and out. Good facilities nearby.

Small details, towel rails in the bathroom and lamps beside the bed would be useful.

The green shutters opened in with the windows so if you wanted daylight you had to have the windows open OK in the summer but not good at Christmas the studio should have white shutters inside the windows the same as across the road
