Villa DORA

The view was amazing and the authenticity of the property with a traditional Greek feeling. Nicolas was a brilliant host and arranged transport transfers and check in details and was helpful with local knowledge too

Nothing to dislike but if we were to be fussy the walk from the road to the property was uneven and untidy in places but not anything to bother about, and there are lots of steps to descend and climb, so you can catch the local bus if you are not comfortable with the steps

Nikos, the property manager, was super helpful throughout our stay. He greeted us at the Ferry port & stored our luggage until we were able to check in a little later as our Ferry arrived very early in the morning. He also provided recommendations on places to go during our stay & was always available to contact by phone. The property itself was very traditional & located in Ano (upper) Symi - the village - and only a short walk from a number of ouzeris, mini markets, & tavernas. It is a much more traditional part of the island and a little cooler. It was also close to the 'Kala Strata' for easy access down to the harbour area. The property was very clean & spacious, with high ceilings & a great view from the balcony. There was a generous supply of water in the fridge & the kitchen had all the usual appliances - kettle, toaster etc. A couple of things to note that didn't diminish our stay in any way: The bathroom is slightly separate from the main property and is accessed by going out the kitchen door & across a small enclosed courtyard. Given that one of the double beds is in a mezzanine area above the kitchen we felt it might be helpful to have the keys to unlock the external door of the separate bedroom that also leads onto the courtyard so that the guests staying in the bedroom didn't need to disturb those sleeping in the mezzanine by going out through the kitchen. There is a short pathway & some steps down to the property from the road. These are a little uneven so those with mobility issues may struggle a little. But considering that most properties on the island are accessed by some (if not many) steps it is not that big of a deal. There are some beautiful climbing flowers on the wall opposite the entrance to the courtyard of the property. In the heat of the day these were buzzing with bees. In the morning & evening though they were completely fine.

We loved this place! Best possible view, very nice host, he met up at the ferry with a car and even carried our suitcases. He was easy to get in contact with. We loved our stay and will be back! This is a hidden gem with magnificent surroundings.

The view!!! There is nothing better to sit on the balcony at the end of the day and enjoy the view from high above. The walk down to the harbour is so pretty, lots of little alleys and colourful buildings to see along the way. The steps to the harbour are steepish bit worth the track. The place where we stayed is so quaint, beautiful, comfortable, clean and peaceful. We felt sad to leave it behind. Nikos is lovely and accommodating. We enjoyed our stay at Villa Dora ❤️
