Ironbridge Hot Tub Retreat - Sleeps 10

Location is excellent. Just a short walk to the Ironbridge and local pubs/restaurants. The beds were clean and comfortable with fresh linen.

The overall house was dusty with several cobwebs - it didn't look like it had been cleaned. The worst area was the kitchen, it is now clear why there are no photographs of the kitchen in the listing - it is very dated and dirty. The oven was unusable as it was too greasy/filthy to put any food anywhere near it. There was a strong, greasy smell in the kitchen. There was old food left on the shelf, dirty oven gloves and cobwebs everywhere. The cooker hood was also filthy. The hot tub water appeared clean, but the cup holder was covered in limescale and biofilm and looked as if it had never been cleaned. Jets were free-floating in the water. The hot tub surround was broken. The light bulbs at the front of the house were not working, so it was pitch black when returning to the house in the evening. Everywhere needs a lick of paint and general maintenance. The front garden and path were muddy/slippy. Definitely not, as per the website states, "each stay combines the comfort of home with the polish of a hotel."

We loved this cottage. It catered for all our needs and had everything we wanted. Great location, a shop at the end of the road and a short walk to the town.

Excellent location, Ironbridge is lovely and Blist Hill Victorian Village was a delight!

The whole property had many issues: Firstly, the most worryingly of all was the camera focused on the hot tub. The hot tub was lovely but only used sparingly due to our concerns of having a camera situated on the fence, directly focusing on the hot tub. This was very unnerving as we were unsure as to why this was needed. There was no warning outside that we were being filmed, and this was only hinted in the guest book, which we found AFTER we used the hot tub. This would have been a deal breaker when booking if we knew that we (including 2 young teenage girls) were going to be filmed in our swimsuits! Due to the nature of the law regarding filming, we should have been informed at booking that this was the case, we weren’t! Secondly the standard of cleaning was minimal. Floors were dirty and after wearing white socks for less than 10 minutes we had to change them due to them being grimy underfoot. Property advertised as providing slippers – there were none. The crockery and glasses needed to be washed before use, as they were dirty. There were urine stains around toilet in main bathroom and there were stains on curtains in one of the double bedrooms. In the front double bedroom, the windows were grimy and green, this hasn't been cleaned in a long time. Only 2 wine glasses provided. The maintenance in the property left a lot to be desired: No threshold bars between the kitchen and the dining room, Loose tiles around the boxing below the boiler cupboard, Random hole in worktop, Loose cornice on top of cupboard, fell off when cupboard door opened and struck me on the shoulder, Board above boiler with carbon monoxide detector attached, hanging off and dangerous, Cheap threadbare carpet on the stairs, One bulb in ceiling light in the double bedroom, Peeling wallpaper in the bunk bedroom, No lock on main bathroom door, Tiles coming away from the wall near the shower, Poorly fitted shower screen in both bathrooms, Cracked ensuite window.

Great layout, well decorated and nice furniture.

Floors were very creaky

Fabulous location. Not far from the Iron Bridge itself. Hot tub was an added luxury.

Room for improvement with the property itself. Little touches would have enhanced the stay. No tables for drinks in the front room, washing machine was handy however no washing line or proper airer to dry clothes. Hob wasn't working properly and some rings needed a match to light. Struggled to unpack as although there seemed to be storage spaces it was taken up with property bedding. Also bath was a nice extra (along with walk in shower) but no plug so we weren't able to use it.

Location was ideal for visiting attractions. Plenty of hot water, towels and toiletries available which was a nice touch. Hot tub was a very good standard. We could easily park three cars. However tree stump could prove awkward and could damage car.

Hot tub cold when we arrived but host sorted it out quickly but not able to use it until following day late afternoon. Hot tub under trees and bushes attracted flies etc and could have had some handrails to make getting in and out easier. Kitchen not very well equipped, many items needed to be washed before use and cooker could have been cleaner. No grill, oven gloves or enough forks and some baking trays would have been useful. Outdoor cushions were very wet had to be dried, outside cushion storage obviously leaking and not big enough for all cushions. A washing line and pegs would have been useful especially to dry costumes and towels from the hot tub.Not really enough seating in the lounge and could do with a few side tables for drinks etc. Three of the bedrooms were small with only one of them having any furniture although another bedroom had a small rail so used fourth bedroom to keep suitcases etc. which would have been difficult if it was being used if there were eight of us instead of six.! No bedside table for lamp, phones etc. and one double very low about 2 foot six off the floor. Windows were old and some single glazed with some catches needing fixing although no issues with closing windows. Generally feel eight people would be crowded and definitely not suitably for ten using bed settee.

Where it was is fantastic

No lower floor wc it would be better for when you are in the hot tub had to walk all through the house to go to the toilet

Great location. Comfy beds. Large dining table.

Some lights/lamps didn’t work. Could have done with more equipment in kitchen such as a grill pan, foil etc
