PROPERTY DETAILS

Welcome to your getaway in Ferrysburg, Michigan! This locally historic cottage, nestled beside the iconic Smith's Bridge, offers a perfect blend of modern luxury and nostalgic charm. Fully renovated in 2023, it maintains its original character with tasteful touches like local maps and custom artwork made from real photo postcards celebrating the area's early 20th-century resort era.

The home comfortably sleeps 10 and features a well-equipped kitchen with a dining table for 8 plus countertop seating, five new queen-sized memory foam mattresses, and 2.5 updated bathrooms. These include: one full bath with tub en suite to the downstairs bedroom (1 queen); one full bath with shower en suite to the upstairs large bedroom (2 queens), which also has hallway access for the two smaller upstairs bedrooms (1 queen each); and a convenient half bath off the main living area.

A cozy and thoughtfully arranged living room offers comfortable seating for 5-6 on the sofa and side chair, with two additional vintage folding chairs and 2 kids' bean bag seats available as needed. While it may not seat the entire group at once, guests often spread out between the living areas, rooftop deck, and backyard for socializing.

The 200 sq ft rooftop deck—with seating for 10—overlooks Smith’s Bayou and the home’s private lakefront and dock, offering peaceful water views also visible from each bedroom and common area. Outside, the private fenced backyard includes a fire pit with ample seating, a grill, a deck with picnic table, corn hole and yard games, and a 7-person hot tub for relaxing under the stars.

Inside, enjoy high-speed internet, a 58" smart TV in the living room, a 50" smart TV in the upstairs large bedroom, board games, puzzles, a vintage shuffleboard table, and a fun collection of vinyl records for rainy days. Other amenities include central AC and heat, fans and blackout shades in every bedroom, and a large-capacity washer and dryer.

At approximately 1,950 square feet, the cottage is cozy yet spacious enough for families or groups seeking a charming home base near Lake Michigan.

In front of the house, across W Spring Lake Road, is your private 20’ wide lake access, offering a serene escape with picturesque views of Smith's Bayou. Comfortable seating on the patio or small sandy area invites you to enjoy a quiet morning cup of coffee while keeping an eye out for the bald eagles nesting across the Bayou, or to enjoy the bustle of boat traffic and boat flotillas on warm weekend days. The lot boasts deep-water access, perfect for fishing, swimming off the dock, or docking your boat -bring your own or rent from a local marina. There is a floating dock at your private beach. Water toys, including two new kayaks and inflatable tubes, noodles, and life jackets, are available for your use.

NOTE: Please let us know in advance if you plan to bring or use a boat and/or trailer. There is a $100 weekly docking fee.

The previous reviewers are correct. This is an exceptional property. This historical building was completely renovated within the last two years and the owners did an outstanding job. The result is very modern, with homage paid to the past by virtue of a couple sections of original wall featured along the stairs and an old wood floor which has been beautifully restored and refinished. The kitchen is very large and stocked with everything we needed. The large dining room table accommodates up to ten. The living room is nicely furnished and very comfortable. The beds are very comfortable. The docks are very useful. We brought a 21 foot power boat, a kayak, and some pedal boards, and the docks accommodated all of them easily. It is very pleasant to sit on the porch and look out toward the lake. Several board games are provided. The two kayaks that are provided are good quality. The hot tub is large and very comfortable and relaxing. There are several yard games in the storage shed. The house is decorated with enlargements of real postcards from Spring Lake which were mailed anywhere from 1907 to 1951, and this is another fascinating way in which the owners tied the history of the area to the present. We felt that the owners put a considerable amount of thought into providing a great experience for their guests and we highly recommend this property.

This was our first visit to Spring Lake but due to this amazing property, it will not be our last! First of all, the owners have done amazing work with this renovation of a historic property. Plenty of space, well decorated, historic touches, and a backyard and private dock space that lends to great space for every age to enjoy. We were so impressed with the touches of hospitality, attention to detail, and a great location with close proximity to anything we wanted to enjoy with our family. You won’t be bored during your stay as the property provides a great variety of activities to enjoy indoors, outdoors and especially on the water! We can’t wait to stay again in the future!

We had a wonderful experience this week. The attention to detail in the house and amenities truly made it a memorable time. We enjoyed the lake and nearby beach. We also really enjoyed the fire pit, hot tub and kayaks. Highly suggest renting this cottage, the owners were great and easy to communicate with.

We had a great stay. We’ve rented several houses in Western MI over the past 10 years and this one is going to be hard to beat. The cottage was perfect for our 3 generation group. There’s too much to list here. But the highlights are we fished off the private dock, enjoyed the supplied inner tubes, kayaks, and canoe on Smith’s Bayou, spent a couple days at the very nearby North Beach Park, and rented a pontoon to spend a day on Spring Lake. Then most nights we relaxed in the impeccably clean hot tub. The location is perfect. Grand Haven is right there for restaurants but also you can get to Saugatuck, Holland, or Muskegon very conveniently. By the way, I recommend Lombardo’s for pizza and Sprinkes for donuts. The house itself is well appointed and thoughtfully decorated. It’s hard to explain but it doesn’t feel like a rental. The owners Adam and Rachel were nearby and very accommodating with our needs and questions about local activities. We would not hesitate to come back and are planning on it.
