Bawlana Estate Kandy by Maniumpathy close to Pekoe Trail Stage 1 & 2

The place is incredible. Sure, it’s perched high above Kandy, but it’s definitely worth the trip. Everything is perfect—the magical view, the quality of the service and hospitality—with a special shout-out to the chefs who prepare delicious meals. We booked two rooms, one of which was very large and included a living area. The bathrooms are brand new. But above all, it’s the beauty of the garden, the pool, and the view that will remain etched in our memories.

I had a great stay at Bawlana Estate. The property and setting are just as beautiful as in the photos; everything is nice, tidy, and clean. I was the only guest and therefore had my own dedicated chef and caretaker. The chef, Ranjith, is a star and made me many memorable meals. The egg hopper breakfast was probably the best I had in Sri Lanka, and the afternoon teas on the veranda were lovely. The WiFi was good, and organising transport to the Pekoe Trail and back was easy enough.

The property is quite far out, so keep this in mind when booking. It is best suited for proper rest and relaxation in a beautiful, peaceful setting. My only minor criticism is that housekeeping, particularly cleaning of the room, could ideally have been more regular during a four-night stay.

The drive up-hill was really scenic on fully carpeted road we enjoyed so much. At the arrival the first thing that captured our eye was the breathtaking view overlooking the Victoria Lake from distant which is fascinating with a vibe of looking down from high above the clouds. The welcome was amazing; the staff was really inviting and always had a smile on their faces impressing their willingness to assist us with anything making us so comfortable during the stay. They serve a High Tea in the evening and High Coffee in the afternoon in the pictures setting at a high elevation point of the garden as well as nearby muthukelina lake in the walking distance which was mesmerizing experience. Location is a scenic hotspot also had easy access to Peako Trial stage 1 & 2 as well as Mini Adam's Peak, yet I was only able to do stage 1 as I couldn't leave the kids for a long while back at the estate. I had so much fun doing this and it was a really good hike. Climate is cozy and just gave us feeling like Mandaram Nuwara, Haputale where we felt the place like absolute peace heaven. Food stands out and really worthwhile, Both Manager Herath & Chef Ranjith were noble characters during the stay. Overall, I must say, even though its 40 minutes away from the Kandy City Centre Bawlana Estate made us felt this is stunning destination for at least 3 nights to explore Pekoe Trail, Mini Adams Peak Scenic Bellwood Walks from a characterful iconic property of 1852 offered an experience unmatched to no other. We would definitely recommend this for anyone who is looking for a perfect and peaceful getaway with your partner after exploring the Culture Triangle as a must stopover.

Hidden away on a peak, overlooking a landscape that faces the sunrise that you can gaze from the terrace. You could see valleys, lakes, trees and forests from your couch this place is as unique as it gets. The rooms are tastefully done, elegant and comfortable and there are so many places you can dine outdoors. The chef and staff are creative and always trying to make your stay better but you also have your own privacy. There are places to hike all around with the Belwood viewpoint just minutes away, Bawlana feels like the perfect escape
