Beautiful property, lovely experience but also not what we expected. I would consider this more of a working ranch than a resort, as we felt like it's more setup for locals to Belmopan and cowboys than it is to the average traveler. Nice food, good overall value. Kind of a strange cowboy guy who apparently owns the property who was a little overly friendly to my girlfriend out of the blue. However seems that locals love him and have good things to say. If you're up for something a bit different would recommend this place, we picked it because it's much closer to the ATM cave hike than San Ignacio and also closer to Belize City. They have a caged jaguar on the premise which is cool and tons of horses. Although, even this we asked to reserve a ride, weeks in advance, we had to push to keep that reservation as they seemed to have forgotten about it. Also had a tarantula in our room which Carlos removed for us. Fun!

Room booked was not available. No information was given. Had to move rooms but with hotel help. Friendly staff. Property itself was run down but grounds were fabulous. Wild animals in captivity including a ‘rescued’ jaguar. Does not impress. Conflicted morality. One thing for sure. Would not recommend and would never go back

This place is so very charming. There are horses wandering around the property, they have birds and a jaguar to visit, the swimming pool is amazing, and the cooking is phenomenal. The cabanas have thatched roofs and are older but well maintained and, well, charming. The beds are comfy. The only downside is that there are bugs, but you're in the middle of the jungle, so that is to be expected.

Just a agoer stay. Beautiful location but realize thar the lodge is in the jungle. No other restuarant or services available beyond that provided by the lodge. Saw a young jaguar, many parrots and exotic wild birds to see. Horseback riding available and it would have been fun to try that if we had the rime.

Our family had a wonderful time at Banana Bank Lodge. Front desk staff was pleasant, but could use more training about the local tour offerings - they were somewhat uninformed and seemed confused about arranging tours and transportation. The food was good, although we got a bit tired of chicken. Best was chatting with the owners, Carolyn and John Carr - they have some awesome stories! LOVED the herd of horses and the experience with the horses in the pink roundpen - a highlight for sure! The architecture and gardens are lovely. The room we stayed in could use a bit of sprucing up and maybe a new mattress, but was still a sweet and comfortable room. YES we would return - and certainly hope to one day.

There were many things to see in the garden such as exotic animals and well-managed landscapes. The owner is an artist, and her gallery is open for guests to visit. There was no AC or Wi-Fi service in the hut but we were ok with that. Wi-Fi service was available near the office and pool. Since the Lodge is in the jungle, it’s better to bring insect repellent to prevent bites from mosquitos. We had a good time at the Banana Bank Lodge. If you want to experience a jungle life, Banana Bank Lodge is one of your best choices. One thing to mention, if you chose to drive to Banana Bank Lodge, make sure to ask staff for directions. We relied on Google Maps, which led us to a dead-end at the side of the river.

The AC worked great and the rooms were clean. The wifi is pretty slow and the beds are a little hard. The main problem with the rooms is the shower. The water pressure is not great and the shower heads are so choked with buildup, you would be better off just jumping in the beautiful pool. The staff was friendly and very helpful. My group stayed out late and took a while to decide what we wanted to do each day. Things in Belize run pretty chill, but the staff was still able to meet all of our last minute requests. The horseback riding and night hikes were exciting and the guides were very personable. They serve a family style dinner every night and we really enjoyed sharing food and our daily adventures with our fellow guests. The food is simple but good. I would recommend eating there since there are not a lot of restaurants in Belmopan. Some people may be uncomfortable with the fact there is a large aviary and a jaguar enclosure on the grounds and the horse roam freely throughout. The birds are very loud in the morning, so don’t expect to sleep in. If you are looking for something new and sleek, Banana Bank is not for you. It is a unique slice of Belize and great jumping off point for adventure.
